How about a three way trade. Detroit, Ottawa & Seattle. Each brings different assets. Seattle brings cap space and a lot of prospects. Detroit has draft picks and cap space. Ottawa wants to trade Debrincat. They want prospects and draft choices. The combination works for all three teams. Ottawa waited too long and lost out on Detroit's 2023 1st & 2nd round draft picks. Detroit has two 2024 first round draft picks.
Getting JG back would be great. He never should have been traded .
I hope Philadelphia is one of the sleeper teams in on DeBrincat. Ottawa needs someone who can help them now. Konecny had 30 goals and 61 points in 60 games last season and is only 26.
The Islanders currently have less than 400,000 in cap space and would have to move some bodies out. I know they can be 10% over the cap before the season starts . I still think Stevie Y will get it done. He always has been a tough in dealing with contract negotiations .

I joke when I see the Wings not wanting to pay DCat and I’m like Lou sure would. As much as we all as isles fans would love him the cap makes it that we have to give up Pageau plus another 4 million which is not easy. You can maybe finagle getting rid of Cal and Ross but then u still need to free up about a million maybe 2 depending on if Wahlstrom is part of that deal. I’d prefer to not lose him. Then its like where can we creat cap and the answer is really no where. It all just comes back to the atrocity of the Varly deal. Just is far fetched and would take some real creativity and discomfort for Lou that I just can’t see
