Pretty simple cap fix, injuries aren’t all tracked properly yet
afterbirth_slime
I’m thinking Garland is gone before the season starts.

We have LTIR
WTFvancouver
This is fine

Just go over the cap, what’s the league gonna do to stop you?!?!

Myers
gohomebrentyourdrunk
Now that is the salary of a team that has marginally improved and barely made the playoffs in a decade.

Still positive in cap with LTIR. Move Myers, sign Dumba. Bam.

Myers and garland have to be gone before the season starts. #packyourshit

Always something to bitch about in Canucks land. For once you have a GM that gets everything done 10 days into July, yet still bitching.
Hinkil
Why would you assume he isn’t?

The Pearson situation is very very complicated.
For legal reasons the Canucks (Alvin & Co) don’t really have a choice but to be optimistic.

I will fix it later on franchise hockey manager 9.

Once they clean up the roster a bit, it’s actually not that bad
A roster like this still has some cap space (ideally they can move Poolman to be able to accrue cap throughout the season), and has an extra forward and D for short term replacements. I sent Pod down for now since he’s waivers exempt, but if you swap him for say Di Giuseppe, the team is still cap compliant.
Do we know for sure that Mikheyev will be 100% and cleared to start the year? I’d assume it’s possible he misses the first couple weeks still since they waited till the last possible second to shut him down last year.
I am still exceptionally skeptical about this management team, likely just due to the JB trauma, but one thing they proved last year, is they know how to maximize LTIR and manage the cap.

So correct me if I’m wrong but it looks like these are the most likely scenarios:
– Pray that Pearson doesn’t clear for contact
– If Pearson does clear, we waive two forwards to make the space for him
– If he clears and the club doesn’t think he’s more useful than any of the other forwards on the roster, we buy him out.

Capfriendly still has Mikheyev and Pearson on IR, so two will need to be sent down to make room.
The corresponding moves I would make:
Pearson -> AHL
Podkolzin -> AHL
Åman -> AHL
Irwin -> AHL
Brisebois -> AHL
Poolman -> off LTIR (I’ll explain in a second)
McWard -> NHL
Those AHL moves are mainly paper transactions to get us $2.5M to bring Poolman off LTIR. By doing this, you maximize your LTIR pool available to you (my roster has around $5800 in cap space, so we would have $2.5M minus that to play with, I’m sure Allvin and co. can get that number closer to zero).
Then, Poolman goes to LTIR, giving you $2.5M to fill out the roster. McWard likely goes down giving you around $3.4M to play with, plenty to bring up and extra forward or two and your 6th and 7th d-men.

we should take a page out of Tornoto’s play book and lock someone in a room without food and water /s

Myers and a 2nd to chicago for a 4th or 5th just fucking end the madness
CowboyCanuck24
Hard to complain about the signing of Hog it’s pretty low risk. I am getting a little worried about how many contracts are up in 2 yrs though.
Softbawl
For a GM who is obsessed with clearing cap, he spends spends spends! Let’s hope Hronek (who cost a 1st and 2nd pick) doesn’t get a Boeser-like contract?
makeanewblueprint
You win the cup! Ask Tampa.

Which players are *likely to underperform their cap-hit next season*?
Most likely Myers. Likely Pearson if he doesn’t get medically cleared. Boeser/Garland/Beauvillier are all coin-flips.

The rest of the roster is pretty efficient.
