Hi clay great vid I’m glad hoglander Is resigned here good depth for us too even if he’s on the Abbotsford ahl squad then called him up in case of injury
does his contract count against their cap or only if he makes the big club?
Dude is flat out Abbotsford material.
Phil DeGuiseppe is a far better option.
Do not ignore the goaltending position.
Goaltending is key to winning the Cup. The quality of goaltending IMO overall has gone down over the years. There are few really top notch good goalies in the league right now IMHO. But the 'Nucks have one of them in Demko. I can see the Canucks making the playoffs this coming season and doing damage in the playoffs if Demko is on the top of his game and stays healthy.
In the Oilers glory years they had so much offence they could pretty much put defence on the back burner knowing Fuhr (and then Ranford for a year) would shut the door. Don't forget Fuhr did not have the greatest save percentage but when the game was on the line in the third he would come up with incredible (should have been goals) saves.
The Habs in their glory years which I old enough to remember had great offence including the three on D (Savard, Robinson and Lapointe) who were so talented they could have been forwards. They knew they could get up ice and pile on the goals knowing Dryden would continually bail them out.
Then of course the Flyers with 2 Cups in a row,. Tough team lead by captain Clarke, but Parent was such a difference maker in goal.
And remembering the 4 straight of the Islanders. You can't go wrong with Bossy, Potvin, Trottier, Gillies and others but they still needed good goaltending (Smith and Resch).
And then the goalie can choke and lose the Cup like happened in Boston and Florida

In my heart of hearts I think there are to many small players as why Hoglander was demoted to the AHL and the team could not justify it by keeping him up. Garland has been the better point getter. Hoagie is the harder player and Garland gets moved he is in. People can argue the point but Cup winning teams do not have a bunch of smaller players. Other teams do not respect small teams and will trying going over top of you or through you. It is hard to push back when there is a size discrepancy. And the team being a bit soft anyway.
Hogs really needs to up his game , I really like Deguiseppe!

His coach was really praising his 2 way play down the stretch fighting for the playoffs and then in the playoffs. Given all the injuries Canucks forwards get. It's great to have competition to come up from Abbotsford.
