  1. Nobody saw Michkov in person and no team was able to evaluate him outside of the rink. But teams have contacts that they can draw from. And the fact that "culture" is mentioned so often tells me that they found things about Michkov that had them worried.
Remember that Michkov was playing for St-Petersburg SKA. Bobrov, co-head of scouting with Lapointe is from St-Petersburg, so one may deduct that he has some good contacts that he could call. Well, it just so happens that Bobrov's father works for the St-Petersburg SKA team (you can google this). So the Habs had all the inside that one could hope for, and they passed on him. They probably knew more about this kid than most teams and passed on him. This tells me that they did not like what they found out about him.
Fun fact, Michkov plays in the Bobrov division of the KHL.

  2. Why do they have to galaxy brain it every time? Just take the best player available please I beg you!

  3. The reason we have mailloux is because bergevin wasnt afraid taking the risk !
Michkov was better than bedard when they were in the same tournaments ! Just sayin …

  4. Perhaps Reinbacher has the positive attitude and work ethic that the Canadiens want. Maybe he is the kind of guy who takes a smaller contract just because he wants the team to win. While perhaps the Canadiens aren't sure about Michkov's attitude, or have heard bad things about it (such as when he indirectly expressed (hinted at) his disinterest in playing for Arizona.)

  5. Think about it.
With all the fears about Russian players, Michkov, the next Russian Jesus, wasn't even the first Russian drafted.

  6. what has been a theme for the final 4 teams the past few years? Big mobile( if possible) defense to lock down the front of your net. That's all I need to know to understand this pick, but there is certainly enough chatter around to say there may be some other concerns with Michkov. I have no problem with the pick in the slightest.

  7. To be fair.. mtls goal scoring is under rated! The D they have can all move the puck around too and put up pts! People compare michkovs goal scoring to ovechkin.. but ovechkin is alot more stronger on the puck and can hit! Michkov will be knocked off alot easier than ovechkin as to why he won't be a ovechkin. Not saying he's gonna be a 40-50 goal scorer I just see it being less likely than people think.. mtl has a player like that in caufield already! And he doesn't have an attitude problem! Reinbacher will be alot more important in the long run and will help hutson become the player we all want him to be! Just trust me this will be a good pick up for montreal and I can see Philly almost regretting that michkov pick in the long run.. he doesn't seem like the guy who can make a big difference in the playoffs.. put a reinbacher in his prime against a michkov 1v1 and I'm betting on reinbacher to stop him from scoring while hutson retrieves that puck to go up and set up a play to score!

  8. It's been decades since the Habs had a player lead the league in scoring…..why start now?

  9. Merci Montreal for the gift from Philly. 👍

The Flyers have needed a goal scoring superstar for years and it was very kind of Kent Hughes for the nice gift.

  10. Culture? How about teaching Price to pronounce "Reinbacher" first? What a culture is it spelling someone's name wrong at the most important stage of his life so far. I feel it is such a toxic culture there. You draft for talent, ok? How was the attitude from KK? Kent Hughes honeymoon is over, they better start winning now.

  11. How good is michkov will be once he plays against the habs and gets crushed on every shift 😮

  12. You European Ice Soccer Fans are Boring
Even Your Video Post that U run during the Show, doesn't know how to Play Ice Hockey Properly
Montreal wont win the Cup until They figure Out how to Play Ice Hockey Properly.
Michkov is an Ice Soccer Player and wont Win You the Cup, Ice Soccer Players wont Cover Their Zones and Fight for the Puck.

  13. Habs fans comparing about Reinbacher reminds me of when wings fans complained about Seider, just give it time and relax. He’s gonna be a force on the back end with Hutson

  14. Someone sarcastically said the Habs would have picked someone other than bedard at 1st overall, and that just doesn't seem that crazy to me, to be honest

  15. Def are mostly undervalued. In the last 20 year theyre alway a defenment drafted top 5. I think they see him the perfect partner for hutson. Some like thibeau chatel have david second of the draft.

  16. It's sad to see that the Canadiens have no consideration for the fans. After decades of waiting for a chance to see a superstar in their team, they decided to stick it to the fans. Whats even more sad is that every year we seem to get the worse of everything. Last year the draft sucked and they decided to pick Slavofsky, a player that was ranked 7th. This year we had the chance to get Mishkov, and we still got shafted.

  17. I am sure that if the habs had the chance to pick Bedar, they would have taken someone else, maybe reinbacher. And then convince everyone it was the right thing to do

  18. We should have drafted Nemec last year and drafted Leonard this year. Reinbacher will be good but 2023 was the forward-heavy draft, and we needed a blue chip top-six forward prospect (not a reclamation project like Newhook)

  19. What if Michkov never even plays for PHI, or comes over after awhile and fits in as well as Shipachyov did for Vegas? It could happen.

  20. Habs didn’t take Michkov for the same reason the Sharks and Coyotes didn’t take him . Michkov was only going to play in a few select cities and teams knew this.

  21. If just thinking that Reinbacher could be playing with the Habs in October and Michkov won’t be even in North America until the fall of 2026 at the earliest.. that alone could be a big reason.. that and it feels like Michkov maybe a very selfish kind of player (more than one top scorer has fallen on this..)… As you said, history will tell whether this was a good pick or not… in 5 years, MTL fans may be applauding the pick.. I think last years pick should be the one they are more worried about.. though Slaf vs Wright.. neither one has done a damn thing great yet… and Wright may have stepped backward.. .again.. time will tell.

  22. Sounds like they fell in love with Reinbacher because they spent to much time watching him, and not enough watching other’s.

  23. There's no way he become a seider 2.0 its not at all the same type of player
