What a steal of a contract. I was sure he wouldn’t get him down below 5 years or $8MM. Yzerman is ruthless.

Omfg! Stevie is a fuckin legend. Gave up next to nothing in this deal, neither to Sens, nor to DeBrincat. Stevie deserves full respect from his prospects as he fought hard to not give up any good ones so they better show up and hit the next gear.

Interesting fact: Alex DeBrincat scored the first Hat Trick at LCA for Chicago. Glad this got done. I can stop bitching about Yzerman not getting a goal scorer now.

This is a team friendly deal. You know Yzerman pointed out Boston as a good example of team friendly contracts and Toronto as an example of teams that can’t get what they need to win.
Then he turned the question back to cat and just said, “do you want to come home and win? Or stay on the road and chase the money. I won’t judge you either way. There’s nothing wrong with either decision. But if you come to Detroit it’s because you want to play for Detroit and eventually win with Detroit. And the price of playing here is understanding both in and out of the locker room, and all the way to the bank, that we are a team first.”
This season will hopefully be one of the most entertaining in the past decade or so
