  1. Trade Robertson, he is always injured. Trade willy the lazy human give-away machine. Buyout Murray and resign Sammy and we have Woll in net. Trade Lilegren he simply gets pushed around on the ice. Resign Schenn and Accarie. Get a top #4 dman from the trade of nylander. This would be a good start.

  2. Trade Nylander straight up for Mark Schifiele, their both forty goal scorers, Mark has more talent with a physical side to his game, top centre for Winnipeg and isn't afraid to drop the gloves and check!… Nylander doesn't check, fight, or play the penalty kill!…

Unload Kerkfoot and Robertson to Mini, for Dumba! Trade O'Rilley to Montreal for Josh Anderson, grab Bertuzzi from Boston, While unloading Murray and Samsonov to Winnipeg for Hellebyck, with Woll as back up!

But don't touch Marner, Taveres, with Matthews sign him to a four year deal for 12 million, no more, for what he offers, can be bought for a lot less, then this goal suck brings to the table!!!

  3. Toffoli, Lindholm and Hanifin for Nylander, Liljegren, Murray and the 28th pick

  4. Andrew, I fully agree with your O'Reilly assessment. I would NOT bring him back either. Much older now, and I didn't see any blazing speed coming from him his game. Acciari – yes, I would bring him back.

  5. I have confidence that Tree will be able to rachet up the snarl & bite on this club. Trading Nylander is one of the moves I would consider, obviously predicated on the return. His sub-standard buy-in to playing meaningful D & checking like he means it, have long been an irritant for me about his game. Unreal talent, but not the tenacious commitment to defending that is required to succeed in the post-season, so if he can be traded for someone who has that element to their game, that would be an upgrade for the playoffs in my view.

  6. I will take the other side. Nylander can be a great offensive player, if he feels like it, but his play in his own end is terrible. It mostly consists of standing around waiting for a chance to blow the zone, with the occasional stick wave at the player he should be covering as that guy is on his way in to score. Offense wins games but defense wins championships. The Leafs need to change the way the team is constructed to have success in the playoffs. The guy who doesn't defend is a great place to start. An added bonus is it sends a message to Marner that his Leaf days could be numbered if he isn't reasonable about his contract.

  7. Trade mathews mariner.unless they take boxing lessons..Nylander.. showed more balls…

  8. Rumors nothing solid .
If things are as bad in Calgary when Treliving was there why would making a trade for any of their players.
    As for the speculation
    That's it.
They all should take less now.
Andrew seem like a smart person .
    Can't afford them all
Travares is going no where .
So Morgan Rielly TJ Brodie Nylander or Marner
Build the defense up beef up the wings

  9. Tavares isnt going anywhere but you could get a 3 or 4 for one if you trade mathews .he,s gonna want 13 million per year. I dont think we will be able to compete giving that much cash to one guy .

  10. Ugh Marner, cant stand that dude. Poor attitude and no growth. Hes a spoilt kid.

  11. Marner, Willie and Matthews aren't physical guys, that's obvious. They didn't have anyone to win the battles in the corners and drive to the net. Bunting tried, he was just not big enough to accomplish that. JT on LW is a lot more productive because he is excellent along the boards winning puck battles. Barbershev would be a great signing. Kampf and Acciari are a must re-sign UFA players.

  12. Agreed. If we let Willy go we need a bonafide star in return. Anything else we can get for him is just fluf.

  13. Maybe trade Nylander and Lilligren to the flames for Lindholm and Tanev.

  14. Andrew… buddy, stop kidding yourself about how bad leafs def core is. They were buried in their own zone for 2 playoff rounds they are extremely weak on the blueline. You can’t score over 2 goals per game if it’s behind your own net the entire game.
    I’d keep Will though

  15. Nylander's always met and/or exceeded expectations and, more importantly, his mindset is that of an unfazed winner. Yet he continues to be mistreated. He's lost some close friends – Johnsson, Sandin, Envgall were not only fellow Swedes, but also talents developed through the same pipeline – but not once has he said anything questionable about his commitment to the team or the direction being taken. I find it quite telling that, on the one hand, fans and the media continue questioning Nylander's long-term viability on the team but on the other hand we're unsure if both Marner and Matthews will re-new and at what terms if choose to do so. FFS, the writing's already on the wall but no one chooses to read it: Nylander wants to play and he's loyal to the team – the other guys will take you to the cleaners and that's if they haven't already taken a step toward a more lucrative US market (probably because they can't play together or something else mundane).

I'm not going to disparage 16 and 34 – they're great players – but this duo has forced their coaches' hand, and have provided questionable returns in doing so. Do we really need a duo that's great in the regular season and god awful during crunch time? Is that really a winning formula and if not, why is splitting them up such a contentious issue? Yes the Leafs have been bounced due to a lack of scoring but that's what this duo is being paid for and why they're on the first PP unit!

It's clear to me the guy that needs to be shipped off is Marner. Yes he plays on the PK but, be honest, how much more of a difference does he make than a league minimum role player? A guy that can provide value in d-zone draws like a Kampf? Or even an internally developed project like a Pierre Engvall? He's a great playmaker and can take over games but when he struggles, which he's known to do during crunch time, he takes Matthews down with him.

Calgary is one of the best trading partners for the Leafs, bar none. The entire team's offense dried up under Sutter and if we are looking for guys to better insulate Tavares's move to the wing, they've got plenty of centers.

  16. would be nice if we can land eriksson ek and hartman from the wild for nylander

  17. I'm with you related to O'Reilly you have to get him at the right number and I doubt he's ready to accept it but it is what it is, he was invisible some games!! I said it a couple of weeks back on an "enemy" site and was scolded!! HOW DARE THEY!! "(

    Jack ~'()'~

  18. Calgary have zero leverage with Hannifen….we could send Calgary a package of Nick Robertson and a prospect/Marlie and a 5th round pick.

  19. Tree isn't trading any of the core 4 in his first year as GM. If it fails in the playoffs again (conference Final or lower) than he would do it next season. So NO…. Nylander and Marner won't be traded…so people need to get over it.

  20. Obvious simple solution…. Extend Mathews for 2 years until 26 season. McDavid is then a free agent and we sign him for 7 years. Sign Willy to long term deal and get rid of Marner and Reilly. Leafs set for next 10 years. Not tough guys.

  21. Would love to hear your thoughts on if leafs should/are going to revamp their blue line over the next couple years to the Vegas model (big physical guys who can move the puck)

  22. 40 goals is tough to replace better think hard you could ruin the team if you subtract that production

  23. Dubas left a mess, the NTC and limited NTC deals all coming due at almost the same time plus the slow movement in cap growth…You cannot move Tavares…Leafs are now in a perpetual cap squeeze because AM,MM are going to want huge increases far in excess of cap growth, and WN should be expecting 9M minimum…….i would not want to be in Tre's shoes.

  24. Marner for Lindholm and Hanifin would be the biggest L ever for Tree. No chance that happens

  25. If Matthews’ number is 4m higher than now….trade him NOW! No way you build a team around Matthews at 16M; that’s just a brutal number.

  26. Good video, but Matthews isn’t going to be anywhere close to $4M more in a year than now. That’d put him at $15.6M. That’s flat out not happening. I can see high 13s absolute max

  27. Would Nylander for cozens and like jj peterka make sense gives buffalo a number one point guy and in return we get 2 decently gritty young guys and cozens could become 2nd center and put Tavares on wing

  28. Hey awesome show, how about a trade: nylander, 2 draft pick, top prospect for toffol, backlund, and hannfen?

  29. Matthews should be traded…the leafs obviously can step up and win without him.

  30. Nylander and a first for lindholm and hanafin is bad for the leafs. Nylander is way better than lindholm and hanafin is a little over rated

  31. Dude, Leafs struggled beating Tampa who had an AHL D Corp. Bottom line is the core 4 are not playoff performers and it’s time to move on.

  32. Lol if Matthews asks for $15.5M then he's telling you he doesn't care about winning, so obviously you trade him. I found it crazy that you just mentioned Matthews getting a $4M raise like it's a forgone conclusion

  33. Everyone talking about Hanifin, but… he's recently said he wants to go back to the USA. Leafs are not in the running for him. Concern about Nylander is that he will drag this out like he did in 2018, and this time try for 9.5M-10M. Leafs are probably around the 8.5-9M range. I don't mind Nylander, least he shows up for the playoffs, unlike #34 and #16, but the already top heavy payroll is a problem, the formula doesn't work. They can't afford to build or keep decent depth players. This just goes on and on…Thought Dubas was the problem, but now I'm thinking Shanahan stuck his nose in too much.
