  1. One thing to note. The wings essentially straight up replaced kubalik with the signing of daniel sprong and sprong id say has better potential. 20 goals 25 assists for kuby 21 goals 25 assists for sprong and he did it with 4th line minutes.

  2. Personally, I dont believe hes the best scorer on Detroit. Larkin shows the natural ability to score when he had/has no legitimate star on his right or left and still put up incredible numbers. Debrincat is a great player, but he needs superstars around him to be an effective player.

  3. For me this is another trade to move towards consistency. Both Kubalik and the team were streaky as hell last year. Now we have way more depth and more consistent goal scoring. Last season we were literally one of the best or one of the worst teams in the league at any given time. These off-season moves should average those out.

  4. Seems like a pretty fair deal to me, especially given all the leverage Detroit had. I'll bet that Ottawa wanted something better than a 4th round pick as part of the trade though, maybe a 2nd or 3rd. As a Wings fan I will miss Kubalik, he was definitely my favorite of Stevie Y's 2022 Free Agent class (Copp, Chiarot, Perron, Czarnik, etc). Excited to see what he can do in Ottawa, and if they'll add Tarasenko now that they have more cap space. Ottawa-Detroit could be a fun rivalry the next few years as they both come out of rebuilds.

  5. Now Debrincat needs to step up and score. That will fix everything. Need to have a solid goal scorer. Let's see what happens.

  6. in 2,5 years Detroit will be shipping out Debrincat for 1/3 of the value.
I don't understand the logic here, trading future and a super value middle 6 scorer for 4 years of Debrincat on a team that was bottom 25% of the teams? Deatroit haven' t drafted their core yet why they are renting guys for 1st round picks?
Will there be at lesat 1 year of competition before those 4 years expire? Debrincat will score his 35g, but he is not a difference maker imho, having him on the ice will cause your team to get scored on.
I would understand if Detroit is top 16 teams and really need to PP to get them to top 8ish. But they don't. They suck, and just lost their 2nd best forward. There is some 4D chess Izerman is playing, but I think he will fall flat on his face.

It would be cool to be wrong, I like the Red Wings

  7. Yzerplan turning into the Whyzer?plan. Wings going nowhere fast.

Cat is a fantastic player, but he's never going to score 40G again. Playing on a line with #88 is going to inflate your stats a fair bit.

  8. It sucked losing Bert and Vrana but the moves made so far made me forget about that and be excited for this season!

Yzerman was very thoughtful in his moves.
He’s trying to build a championship culture and is doing great!

So many options and no chance of getting stuck with anything!
    Well done Stevie! 👍

    Playoffs?
    Possibly.
The fans were wild last year, THIS year could be the best yet!

  9. Winnipeg got a bunch more than Ottawa did despite also not having leverage. Really bad trade by Pierre

  10. Yzerman didn’t give up any top prospects. Yzerman didn’t give up any key roster players. Yzerman signed DeBrincat to a new contract with reasonable term and dollar value. This is a major W for Stevie Y and for Detroit.

  11. Looks like these two teams(and buffalo) will be fighting over the same playoff spot this season. All in all, I really didn't think Ottawa would even get this much for him, just because they had zero power
