I did really like this part:

*Leafs fans have also announced that William Nylander should take a discount on his next contract because his hair looks too good flowing out the back of his helmet and he shouldn’t be able to have that and a 10 million dollar contract.*

    His hair does look great.

I’m in this article and I don’t like it.

Nah we just don’t wanna watch him half ass ice time if paid the top 🤦🏽

So Beaverton just summarizing r/leafs ?

Can guess where this article is going. And certainly I get it that we should appreciate having talent.

But if Matthews is only chasing the most money then he’ll only ever be the most talented player in team history, not the best player in team history. Need to actually win and be nice if the players seemed interested in that.

Yes what’s so hard to understand about this?

Fuck that. Give him $15 mil. But he better be signing for 8 years.

The problem isn’t the amount the problem is term. Matthews doesn’t want to sign for more than 3-4 years and therefore should not be getting max value if he isn’t willing to commit.

This is the hard cap’s fault not the Leafs or Matthews’ fault. I would give him $30 mil per year in a heartbeat but this stupid league hates paying its players.

Yes of course we do. There is a salary cap, and every dollar spent on one player is money that cannot be used to improve by spending on another elsewhere.

Look. If this core had multiple runs that at least threatened to get out of the Conference, this would be a no brainer. But they don’t. They have one series win where we got outplayed by several key metrics, and where I could have stood in for Vasileveskiy and no one would have noticed.
