The SEC Network is the ESPN family. The fact that ESPN cut away from NHL playoff games to talk about regular season WNBA games should show you where that company’s priorities lie.

Lsu only has club hockey so this likely was meant to mean drafts the school participates in. And the sec is headquartered in Alabama anyway so who knows who tweeted it.
There’s been a few huge pushes lately. WNBA and for some reason, women’s college softball.
There’s a financial push to these, as they have paid promotion happening.
I’m guessing this is a result? Maybe actual fan engagement, or maybe a flop viewing party.

The NHL drafts players before college, so it makes sense. But shouldn’t be called « the 4 major drafts ». Maybe « these 4 major drafts »
I’m critical of the NHL and it will be knocked out of the “Big 4” professional leagues in NA, but not by the WNBA.
WNBA is trash league compared to NHL if NBA didn’t subsidize the WNBA it would be in bankruptcy the WNBA loses like 50-100 million every season

Does LSU even have a D1 hockey team? According to lsusports.net they don’t. So yeah, makes sense. That’s foosball country. And now that Hailey Van Lith is coming over from Louisville the deal is sealed. Maybe with the FLA/VGK finals that’ll change. But it’ll take a lot of time and resources. Time and resources the WNBA has put forth.

I don’t even know if LSU has a Hockey program which could be a bigger part of the problem. Pretty much every college has Football, Baseball, and Basketball for Men’s and Women’s. But not all of them have hockey so perhaps that’s a bigger issue on the NHL drafts visibility.
The local Little League all star team is a bigger draft than the WNBA
