Last time any of these teams won the cup was 06. The rest have never won it. So that keeps things exciting
Honestly biggest upset was easily Panthers & Bruins by FAR
Not really. Boston getting knocked off by FL was a lot more stunning. The Avs have no dependable scoring after their top line, so it was a simple matter of stopping that top line and voila. That they even managed to win their division was a small miracle. The Kraken are a well-disciplined team with quality players throughout their roster. The Avs can't say the same, so it wasn't surprising that such a team beat them.
Not really "insane". Seattle was a 100 point team and very good on the road throughout the year. The Avs were majorly depleted by injuries and the mysterious disappearance of Nichushkin; they had no depth or secondary scoring. It was an upset but it never looked great for the Avs going in.
Well…. when you essentially get to poach every team in the league to get your roster, this isn't a shock. The current expansion draft rules make new clubs "insanely" competitive from the get-go. The same reason Vegas was able to make a playoff run in its FIRST season and the Stanley Cup finals in its SECOND. If that doesn't say something, not sure what does. So this is NOT such a shocker.
It was an upset, but the Avs were far from healthy. And Seattle had an 100 point season. The Boston Upset was far more historic than this one
grubauer vs the otter will be a matchup
Any Avs fan that watched this season knew this was possible
Almost 500 man games lost to injury this year.
No it wasn’t. kraken were a 100 point team, won the regular season series and the avalanche were missing a ton of pieces. The narrative is lazy
That offside goal is on Lehky. I think he would own that. If Avs got passed the Kraken, they were too thin to get pass Dallas.
Didnt help taking a pointless offside in the last portion that would have brought it to OT but regardless congrats to the Kraken even if i want you out for the Oilers 😋
Historically insane? must not have watched any seattle this year.
The Bruins loss to Florida is beyond heartbreaking. It’s without a doubt the biggest choke in NHL history. It’s worse than watching the Helmet Catch. After losing the 2013 and 2019 Stanley Cup on our own ice, losing to the Canadians in game 7 of 2014, multiple second round exits to the Lightning, and now this. It’s over for me. I don’t think I’ll ever be a hockey fan again.
With Boston, Colorado, and Tampa gone in the first round…everything is all new and exciting for once.
Used to be a restaurant/bar on the road to Quebec City that had an Avs jersey encased in glass on the floor as soon you went in.
When i saw the Nordiques cap i thought of that place.. 😂
the fact that this wasn't even historically insane when the best regular season team EVER couldn't get out of the first round
really?…colorado had 51 wins for the year and the kraken had 46 wins?….historical?….lol more like boston who had 65 wins and florida 42 wins thats a historical win….avs were tired winning the cup last year like tampa who won the cup and went to the final last year……
Sko Krak!
Don't let this distract you from the fact that Boston blew a 3-1 series lead
That's Kraken Hockey Baby !!!
I want to see SEA-EDM in the Western finals. I think that would be an incredible series.
We still miss Borky
The Avalanche season was frustrating from start to finish. We get one guy back and another guy goes down. All season long and into the playoffs. Way too many stars injured and one of them even disappeared into a fucking void. Kraken fought hard against a gritty but depleted veteran team and they deserved the series. We certainly did not.
Go Avalanche.
From Seattle, moved to Denver 4 years ago before the Kraken. Rooted for Avalanche last year. Was so torn, but I had to root for Kraken having lived in Seattle 30+ years
Nah. Not wackiest. Not wackyeh. /
THAT was offsides? Lol yeah I don't understand how hockey offsides works haha I thought it was just like soccer offsides. Seems like that'd make more sense.
Grubauer being a former goalie for the Avs was what made that first round failure such a disappointment
Boston and Colorado were shocking to see! Seattle is gonna win the Stanley cup!
As a Seattle fan, I was crapping my pants every single time a shot was taken. But now they are facing the Stars tonight for Game 7
Beating the kraken was a real change for some teams this season including the avalanche!
I’ve learned if your team gets it wrong you die!
