Isn’t ECHL the East Coast Hockey League? Tahoe is kind of stretching it.
But Belleville ON is only 60-70K and they have an AHL* team. Then again, it’s Canada.
*I was wrong, it’s AHL, not OHL

There’s teams in the BCHL with smaller populations than that and they do just fine. It’s a lower level league and the location could be a draw for some guys. Only issue I can see is the pay for playing there might not be enough for them to afford to live there.

The echl team in rapid city can barely fill the arena they have and we’re at 75k…
Hershey has a population of 14,000 and they support an AHL team pretty well. Lots of rich folks in the area are happy to buy up the club seats and make it worth their while. I imagine Lake Tahoe will have a similar opportunity.

All games will be played outdoors in the middle of the day.

Ah yes…Tim Tebow…the hockey fanatic.

Home games are going to hurt. I’ve played a few tournaments there and I think the altitude is around 6,500 feet, iirc.

As I mentioned in another thread on this post. Reno/Sparks which really is the main metro area is at least 75 minutes from South Lake Tahoe. For me, it’s 1.5 hours. Reno isn’t going to be the crutch for SL. The drive is treacherous over the passes in winter, if they are even open. This is a dumb idea. The people in SL will lose in this and the only one making out in any sense is that nutjob Tebow. He’d be better off opening a church.

[40k population but it’s a massive tourist spot](https://amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/feb/12/lake-tahoe-resort-housing-crisis)
The ECHL should get renamed at this point
