Zadina would of been owed 4.5M over the next two years as its backloaded. He only would of made 915K for the year he played.

Yes, we all admire a guy taking a bet on himself… but I'm calling it right now — Zadina doesn't seem to be getting any better offensively. I'll be surprised if he ever gets the opportunity to make 2m+ in a year again in his career and I think he continues being a bottom 6 guy. He certainly has never "filled nets with pucks" and he did the wings a huge favor by f-ing off 🤣

As a Sharks fan, he won't do jack. If you cant prove your worth on a rebuilding team led by Steve Y than how the hell will you get MORE ice time with David Quinn as the head coach, a coach who is notorious with killing young prospect's confidence. No. I don't think he's not going to get better. But it's just a one year contract, I guess he can eat minutes and take the damage the younger prospect shouldn't be exposed to.

For you guys that I've seen him play often… what is is main issue? Haven't been able to find a whole lot of clips breaking down what the issue is here! Other than he hasn't been able to finish… dunno what's holding him back!!
I really like Zadina, as a Red Wings fan. I wish he would have another year in Detroit. Losing his cap hit, makes Debrincat all that much cheaper, though.
Actually Zadina passed on 4.56m to terminate his contract. His total compensation remaining was 1.83m in year 2 and 2.73m in year 3 of his contract. Huge gamble for him…but hopefully he finds success in San Jose.
I like a guy who bets on himself. But you know it is a problem when everyone say pick him up because "He was 6th overall" or "He used to be so good". No one talk about his recent NHL plays, like "Oh he hits so many posts and had so many near misses. If he scored on some more of those, he would be a 40 point guy no problem." I don't know. Chances aren't good TBH. Best of luck.
Zadina has an issue. He is to far inside his own head. We've seen the flashes of brilliance, we know he has skill. It is a mental thing with him and that is one of the hardest things to overcome. Maybe a change of scenery will be what he needs to get himself dialed in, but I must not be a nice hockey fan, because if I watch him start scoring I'm gonna be yelling at the TV like "Why couldn't you do that when you were here??"
