1. I breathed a huge sigh of relief when Chicago hired Luke Richardson, the anti Babcock.

  2. Time will tell if he's learned to manage his ego. I hope so for Columbus fans and players.

  3. Only time will tell if Babcock has changed . For the record , I don't think there's a coach out there that could make the Leafs or Oilers Stanley cup Champions any time soon .

  4. Guys not nice and that’s okay, you do not always have to be nice, everyone is so sensitive about their feelings

  5. Maybes he’s changed .. one can only hope for the better

  6. The good ol' NHL Boy Club is stronger than anything though. That's why it's always a carousel of the same group of people for key positions. Once you're in, your family. And even then, you can be the worst guy in the history's of your job, and still get open arms for a media position.

  7. Although he is a jerk, the team will certainly be better than last season

  8. Say all you want about him "learning". A prick is always going to be a prick. Ask Modanno. Ask Spezza. He was just a nasty piece of work.

  9. Listening to Johnny G's first spitting chicklets interview post-announcement he was headed to Columbus from Calgary, he pretty much said he had a major problem was Sutter's coaching style. I bet you a dollar his heart sank to the floor when he heard Babcock was on his way.

I'll give Babcock the benefit of the doubt, but then again I didn't make a major life-change to move away from toxic coaching.

  10. The championship Canadiens teams of the 70's say that they all hated Scotty Bowman 363 days out of the year and then lifted the cup on day 364.
They then went back to hating him the following day.

  11. As a Red Wings fan, !@#$ Babcock. Columbus made a huge mistake.

  12. Babcock's resume is overinflated by coaching stacked teams. The Canada team he won a gold medal was ridiculously stacked, they still needed OT to beat USA. The Red Wings were stacked the whole time he was there and only won 1 cup. 09 team had 3 50 point defenseman including Lindstrom, 2 of the best defensive centers of all time in Datsyuk and Zetterberg, plus Hossa and Franzen. Still couldn't get it done.

  13. Columbus is gonna be a intriguing team this coming year. Their revamped defense, finally having a quality centre in Fantilli and very curious to see if Babcock has actually grown as a person and coach. If he can get a good system going with a new attitude, this team could be good.

  14. They have a lot of great young players. Can Bab's do what he says he now understands? I doubt it. Those powerhouse teams, Anaheim and Detroit were elite teams with thick-skinned hall-of-fame veterans. Winning brings smiles, but when things go sour this time at a NHL level, how will he respond?

  15. I didn’t know that about Modano. That has to be one of the biggest dick moves in NHL history.

  16. This man owes his entire career to JS Giguere. Ever since Giggy nearly single-handedly won this tree stump of a human being a stanley cup he's had everything handed to him and either squandered or nearly squandered all of it.

He won a cup in Detroit? Did you see that roster? How did he only win one cup with them? Replace him with a better coach and they are a dynasty. All his head games ruined the confidence of a young, developing Leafs team that still cannot believe in themselves beyond achieving a single playoff win series since the day he took over behind the bench. Team Canada? Did you watch that Olympic tournament? They almost lost to Latvia because he was having the most powerful offense in the world play a safe and conservative style. I could have coached that team to a gold medal.

His spiel about 23 different communication styles is BS of the highest order. If it were true, and it isn't, then a) you would need a lot more coaches per team to cover how to coach to all 23 guys plus the 5-10 extras who get called up during the season and b) he will absolutely fail because he only knows one communication style which is 'asshole'.

  17. For what this asshole did to Modano and Spezza, no one can or should believe he’s changed. A leopard doesn’t change his spots… And a narcissistic psychopath doesn’t either.

  18. Snowflake millionaires. It's like this entitled younger set expects their coach to pee lemonade, sh*t Skittles, puke cotton candy, sneeze glitter and cry gumdrops.

You can take getting yelled at for a few million a year. You get paid to play a game for a living that most men would be willing to do once, for free, even. Your pwecious feelz don't matter and hardly enter into the equation.

What Babcock did is bush league compared to what I've seen managers do in my career on Wall Street. The tough succeed and the mentally weak fail hard. Be men. for f*ck's sake. Otherwise, the NHL becomes just like the NBA, where the lunatics — mostly punks — run the asylum.

  19. Iirc Babcock studied Sports Psychology while at McGill, then he turned and mentally crushed his players

  20. Babcock has always coached talented teams. His coaching ability is way overrated. I can't see him turning around any team. This was a desperate move, that will end in failure.

  21. Being served a big helping of humble pie will either change you or you’ll quadrupled down on your old ways but he sounds like he has changed and if not I’m sure the sensitivity police will murder him.

  22. When a player said "he's the worst person I have ever met" maybe that is a sign that he's a bad person? LOL. Notice how he didn't say coach but person. That really says something. And Babcok verbally assaulted a player. If I was the player I would of physically assaulted him back. I kind of don't understand how a full growm man and a NHL hockey player would take that?

  23. This guy getting a new job is more shocking than a toaster bath😢😢

  24. Does being a better communicator mean you aren't a jerk anymore? Ask Mike Commodore

  25. I think everyone can grow and evolve. let's see if he really has. won't wash his terrible past actions, everyone has the possibilty to be a better person (ans when I read internet lot of people should try to be better)
