  1. You trade for top scoring talent by drafting a deep blue line that you can leverage players and picks in a trade. Yzerman has done an amazing job amassing talent.

  2. Don't forget he had to deal with all the stupid contarcts Holland gave out and some of the picks in draft he took

  3. Just another Gen Z that complains for complaining sake

  4. Sigh. Everyone wants the instant gratification. If you go for that you have a flash in the pan and then its over. You want to build like crazy and create a dynasty.

  5. Abdelkader on the books still is literally irrelevant.
The buyout is costing a million a year, the team has 30 million in cap space.
Certainly not some albatross contract leaving yzerman's hands tied.

  6. We also haven't gotten "lucky" in the lottery. Every other rebuilding team has gotten 1st overalls and top 3 picks. That helps

  7. Everyone remember when the Tigers went out and had the "win now" mentality? And how did that go for us? Yzerman is trying to avoid that same situation. He doesn't want just one more cup, he wants four.

  8. Would we all like it to be shorter? Sure. But this isn't year 5, as many have pointed out with bad contracts. That would make it year 4, but with all the injuries last year no one really got in a groove playing together other than Walman and Seider, so it was pretty much a wash and not really something we can blame on the rebuild. More just S**t happens. So in all reality we are in year 3. I look on the bright side. Because of the above we got a REALLY good look at Berggren, a peek at Soderblom and Edvinsson and figured out where our last few holes to patch are. This team has the potential to at least make the playoffs….IF they can stay healthy long enough to build chemistry.

  9. Neal has majorly improved over time- I hate when people say oh 5 years that’s enough the first two years we had nothing that don’t even count

  10. Dude, Stevie Y doesn't give a fat rats @$$ about squeaking into the playoffs. He's building a Stanley Cup team.

  11. Reminder that Neal is the same guy who refused to listen to any criticism of Brad Holmes this past year but then looked like he was going to blow a gasket on Day 1 of Draft night.

For the record I believe in Holmes and Stevie Y

  12. Yzerman never promised us a "five year plan". He deliberately avoided giving us a timetable, just warning that it would take time and require patience.

The last time Yzerman was newly arrived in Detroit, it took 14 years to win a Stanley Cup, but it was well worth the wait. I for one am willing to remain patient and trust the Yzerplan.
