Picking up guys like McWard (or Aman/Bains/Hirose/Johansson/etc) is where our management group has really shined.
Sure, most of these undrafted free agents won’t end up amounting to much, but some always do. Casting a wide net and having the ability to convince these guys in the Canucks vision goes a long way in finding the next Tanev (Or in extreme cases, Kuzmenko). Even just having the internal competition for organizational depth goes a long way.
He’s got some dangles walking the blue line. I thought he showed really well in his brief stint last year considering he’s a bit younger than the other NCAA guys that came in, Hirose and McDonough.
Let him cook in abby
Bains and McWard over Jurmo and Kudryavtsev are interesting choices, Faber clearly valuing lower risk and lower reward older prospects over the more boom/bust guys.
The new management group has certainly shown an ability to uncover potential NHL depth players, bodes well for cap management over the next few years if we have free assets on league minimum deals to plug roster holes.
What are we cooking? I want pizza.
I am way too optimistic. I read these things and am like … « Another top 4 d man? Awesome… We are going to be so good in a couple of years … »
Been doing that for ten years now …
