  1. Corporatism has ruined sports. And just when you think the internet is the saviour, they’re coming for that, too. Vancouver had the best sports television on the planet and Toronto came in and crushed it. Good old Cleveland North.

  2. Who can replace Cheech? Who will replace Cheech? We will all be dissapointed to a certian level, it's been so many years of the amazing quality of colour commentary, with unique insight and chemistry (going back to Mr Robson). It will be a difficult job, so we need to give somebody time and latitude, as we did for the last few play by play guys (who were both damn good).

  3. Shannon sure isn't denying that theres some truth to the rumors. Before this interview i was skeptical.

  4. Sportsnet has become a tad insufferable the last few years, so I'm not that worried about a shake up. If 2023 has taught us anything, the corporations in control of their cultural institutions absolutely know what they are doing.

  5. Bizarre that Bieksa gets fired. I’m sure he’ll be fine as he will get scooped up fast. It’s our loss though

  6. I disagree with Shannon about the changes on the Hockey Night panel. I've been reading that Ron McLean will be gone —- that is great news!! McLean has owned Hockey Night for way too long, and it's time for him to step down and retire. Likewise with Kelly Hrudey. The fact is that both these guys are BORING. They just repeat the same old recycled, predictable yadda-yadda every game. Bieksa is OK but often arrogant and egotistical. There's other people who are just as capable as Bieksa. Jennifer Botterall is good, and having a knowledgeable hockey woman is definitely OK with me. David Amber gets my vote for the guy to replace Ron McLean. It's time for some fresh air in a boring and tired old format.

  7. You guys didn't discuss one of the worst things about Hockey Night in Canada's format —- the way they have gone over to the major promotion of sports betting. I hate it. We used to get nothing but serious hockey commentary between periods. Now almost half of the time is given up to that goofball they have hired to be the sports betting promoter. As an old-fashioned hockey fan of over 60 years, I'm 100% opposed to this in every way.
