I was like 12 and remember being an oilers fan but never watched because they always lost but 97 brought hope. I remember watching the game he came back and scored that goal I had never been more excited as a oilers fan at that point
Yeah he wouldve easily gotten 90 point his rookie year he was turnning it up before he got injured
since when do we get all 82 oilers games in Calgary? I only get their national games.
Glad he overcame. Still wonder what a healthy Eric Lindros career would have looked like. I worry that someone is gonna flatten Bedard. At least he skates with his head up.
Hurting his knee was more terrifying
Fun Fact; McDavid was 10 years old when Panarin played his first professional game.
McDavid is honestly a gift to the game no other way to put it
This is some off-season programming right here.
To delve further into the Brandon Manning saga, Chiarelli traded Drake Caggiula to the Hawks for Manning; it was rumoured that Caggiula and McDavid were friends. How insulting to the franchise player to dish away his buddy for the guy who admitted he tried to injure him, I know it’s pro sports but it’s not like Manning was Chris Pronger here to lead to a cup.
The only saving grace would’ve been if the oilers had buried Manning in Bakersfield forever and let Conner tell him why, but they actually played the guy too! This move was right up there with 1st round pick (15th Barzel) for Griffin Reinheart. Seriously how does Chiarelli still cash cheques?
Man I remember genuinely wondering if this injury was gonna derail his career. Then he came back and scored that goals Vs CBJ and I was like oh okay he’s an animal.
i wasn’t a diehard hockey fan when mcdavid began his rookie season but i remember the first time i heard mcdavid’s name all i knew is he was fast, that’s just what i knew. unbelievable the way his career has gone, and crazy to imagine it could have all ended when some player cheap shotted him
Remembering that the team wasn’t actually that bad standings wise at the point of his injury then knowing we weren’t gonna make playoffs
McDavid should have won that Calder Trophy. Over a point per game as a rookie. Pannarin should have be uneligible for the same reason Gretzky was robbed of the Calder, because they BOTH played in professional leagues before their rookie season.
I was at this game. I always wondered how awkward it is when players with negative history are put on the same team. Especially when put on the same line
I'm glad Eberle was let go for peanuts!
I remember people calling him a bust after 3 games lol
Would’ve been crazy if his career ended so early
Bruh why do you meatride this guy so much
manning was a oiler, then we buried him in the AHL.
