  1. Chevytakestoomanydaysoff is NOT a good GM. His scouts advise him well on who to draft and he does well in trades, but… he has NO VISION. He's not a winner, doesn't know how to win, and doesn't know how to build a "team". Anyone can build a roster. It's not difficult. Literally, anyone can do it. What takes skill is building a team that is well balanced, likes each other and wants to play together and ultimately… can win. The Jets MUST move Scheifele and Helly, ASAP. Get what you can now! Assets, picks, prospects would be best. No more trying to get equal value in return talk. Get some picks and prospects and escalate the kids from the Moose up to the Jets and start building a new team. I would go as far to trade off anyone on the current roster other than Morrissey, Samberg, Heinola, Chisholm, Lambert, Lowry and any of the kids who haven't played a game with the Jets yet. The rest are up for grabs. The Jets have a nice young group on the Moose and more that will be joining the Moose this year or the next. Start planning to have a good young crew in 2 years. Take this year to LOSE BAD. LOSE A LOT. Finish last or close to it and get more picks. Trade off as much as you can at the trade deadline for picks and prospects. Then next year, have a very new young roster and start building the New Jets next year. This way, in 3 years the kids have had between 1 to 2 years of experience together and away they go. Kinda like Ottawa has done.

  2. If I was the owner I would be asking myself why players are wanting to leave.

  3. we need to speak to whoever took 15 mins to design that Jets logo.

  4. I think the team is improved over last year as is. The talent is more balanced across all 4 lines and you don't have guys playing two lines up from where they should be. I don't see Scheifele or Helle being traded before the deadline, so it will mostly boil down to health: Vilardi, Ehlers and Perfetti all have question marks as to whether or not they can play a full season. If they can keep the top 6 healthy, they will have some really balanced point production and Brossoit as a backup will help a lot with managing Helle's workload.

  5. This summary indicates the entire team consists of “ good, solid bottom roster players”. Amazing they let Stenlund go .After all He was the epitome of that “ good and solid” where pucks go to die. It needs to be said that the D is a dog’s breakfast and has been a boat anchor since 2018. Chevy makes zero proactive moves and only moves if his hand is forced.

  6. I think the Jets are a good managed team. They should be fine for the coming season.

  7. As a Jets fan whom considers himself to be very knowledgeable regarding the Moose, the only player missing from the roster is Declan Chisholm, good luck keeping him out of the logjam on defence. Not sure if the Jets make the playoffs or not right now. I will have a better idea once the player movement ends this off season and I can compare final roster to the rest of the conference rosters. The dust has not yet settled in the 'Peg. "True North".

  8. Long term contracts do not mean guys want to be in Winnipeg. It merely means they wanted to be in Winnipeg when they signed their contracts.

Coach quitting, guys wanting out, team struggling to win when it counts – I guarantee all that has changed players' perspective. Ehlers, Connor, Morrissey are 26-28 and can't be thrilled at the state of things.

  9. Hellebuyck needs to be traded first. here is why: let's say you trade him to the Sabres, you could get Cozens, Greenway and UPL. Cozens would be the Center they needed. OR to the Devils for Mercer, Schmid or Vanijek and a draft pick. then, Mercer would be the Center. Point is: now you can trade Schefiele for Debrusk and Swayman from Boston or Kotkienemi, Pesce and a draft pick from Hurricanes. Be smart Chevy! But don't start the season with Schfiele and hellebucyk in the Jets starting season lineup.

  10. I do worry about Vilardi's durability playing in that 2C position. Danault has been great, but there is a reason we've never trusted Vilardi enough to play there. He has great 2-way numbers, but that was in a sheltered 3rd line role playing alongside our PPG player in Fiala and a solid workhorse C in Lizotte.

Defensive responsibilities at 2C are vastly different than at 3C where he doesnt have to deal with nearly as much contact. I am interested to see how he fairs. I have always liked him though, so here's hoping he can surpass 50 points next season and keep improving.

  11. Hope they regroup around the pieces they have now. Better depth, better future prospects and they got rid of two problematic players in Wheeler and Dubois. If this move with Iafallo and Vilardi doesnt work in terms of contracts it is looking like a complete rebuild one or two years down the road.

  12. Strictly from the main roster, Winnipeg has a potential 24,941,666 bucks coming off of their books.
We should know by March what kind of team they are, but I think it's time for a complete rebuild with that much money freed up for next season.

The thing that must be said is that all the guys that signed long-term in Winnipeg either came over from Atlanta, or were drafted. What the Jets haven't had is an actual free agent choose to sign long-term in Winnipeg. If that were to happen, that would make a huge impact on the team and the fanbase.

As it is, though, with this current management and team culture, that's just not a reality. There's not a commitment to building a contender. Cheveldayoff let the toxic locker room culture continue for years without making changes just to keep having good PR. Laine wanted to leave. Roslovic wanted to leave. Paul Maurice quit. Stastny had pointed comments in his last interview before leaving. So what pending free agent would want to sign-up for that? If the team had a front office that was committed to the business of trying to go for it, and creating a positive culture, they could attract a free agent, who wants to be there to help the team win, and wouldn't worry too much about the climate.

  14. Free Hellyubuck!!!! Dude can't wait to Escape the Peg. Right wing, Churchy and crime filled "city"

  15. Felt that Namestnikov was brought back to pair with Ehlers whioh would affect lines. Assuming that Perfetti is sill earmarked for top 6.

  16. The good thing with the Jets is the fact that most of their wingers can also play Center, so the depth is there for sure

  17. I would think Cheveldayoff is feeling the heat there. We'll see if these changes pay off or not.

  18. If someone doesn't WANT to be there, you move them … they should eat half the salary on Hellebuyk and trade him, there are suitors … grab a grade A or A- prospect and a 1st rounder. He's 30 years old and not a playoff performer, whomever signs him to a long term deal may very well regret it in a few years. I just think the time to win a SC with him has passed and having a shot at squeaking into the playoffs isn't worth keeping him around. The same can be said for Schiefele. Jets need to bite the bullet and change the culture and if it means a couple of lean years, so be it.

  19. Getting rid of Dubois is the best thing that will happen to any team.

2nd line centers who are drama-queens tend to perform lesser than their contracts.

  20. The logjam on Left Defense is painfully obvious. Need to move someone out to give Samberg and Heinola room to grow.
