The big issue is the expiring contracts, without any guarantee from any of those guys would be a tough sell on both sides of the equation

Best & worst case for Toronto. Best case, Nylander scores 50 goals, helps Leafs to win the Stanley cup. He might or might not leave in free agency. Worst case. Nylander disappoints the Leafs in 23/24 season. They don't win the cup. They don't resign Nylander, and use the money to improve the team in other areas. Trading him now speeds up the worst case scenerio. Doing nothing and sticking with Nylander won't be the end of the world for the Leafs. Overpaying him, might not help improve the team. It probably won't.
I don't. Want a trade from Calgary. But Nylander is a good trade piece for someone worthy with a draft pic
The big question is in 24-25 season, what UFA's will be available. If they can't sign Willie it might be just as wise to keep him and use the cap space next season for 2 players. Brodie's cap will be off the books as well, they should be able to find a d-man that can do what he does at the 3M range.
Nylander, TJ Brodie, Murray, Muzzin for Hanifin and Backlund?
Think I would prefer Nylander for Hannafin and Tanev. Then trade Brodie for a 3 rd or 4th pick. Then you can run Rielly with Tanev , Hannafin with Klingberg, McCabe with Lilligren or Timmins.

Ok, I'm aboard, that trade will never happen…Leafs have the worst GM in the NHL…You can bet your ass that they are watching him like a hawk, he won't be able to do shit as a GM…He totally wrecked Calgary, why because he shouldn't be a GM…Can't believe Toronto hired him but he will just be a pawn…Toronto is going nowhere as they are and as far as a cup…Never happen…
Nylander is better than lindholm + hanafin by a mile
This actually would work math wise and would help with 2 strong defense to pair with Rielly and Klingberg. Trade Nylander ,Kampf, Lilligren, for Tanev, Zadorov, and Coleman , Calgary might need to add some pick or prospect. Then you can run either Coleman or Domi as your 3rd center, Holmberg or Gambrell as 4th C. This adds more toughness and defense on all 3 guys plus half of Willys points in Coleman. Then trade Brodie for a pick or prospect.
I highly doubt Calgary will do ANY business with Treliving…. It's always nice to make up these "mock trades"….but in reality, Leafs need to sign Sammy, and potentially deal out Brodie IF Treliving is in on Brett Pecse…. which he most likely is. I like Brodie …but there are rumours…
Hannifen has already stated that he wants to play in the States….Tanev is great but can only play 60 games or less per season..,.
I be hearing a leafs trade rumor that leafs trade T.J brode and Ty Volt and a pick or two for Mario Ferraro and a pick from the sharks. If it is true or not i do not know. The leafs would have 2.75M off the books if deal go through. Ty Volt's cap would be use to sign Easton Conwan to entry level contract.
2.75M may help sign llya Samsonov. Mario Ferraro is on same D-line as Erik Karlsson. I think leafs true target on Sharks wasn't Erik Karlsson but Mario Ferraro. Mario Ferraro is not feared to drop the gloves.

Nylander to Carolina for Pesce and Jarvis
As good as William is, he could be even better. How many times a season does he disappear for a while till Keefe has to basically call him out! Also, as good as he is, he is still not a forward that is going to dig in the corners or be hard on the forecheck to retrieve pucks. I like his speed, and he is great with his edge work, but I think this team still needs forwards to win in corners and on the forcheck. Guys, to sit in front of the net and make it hard for goalies to do their thing! This team needs to find more chemistry for Matthew's and Taveres since they are not going anywhere! Keefe could not find chemistry in the top 2 lines all season and even into playoffs! So if trading Nylander gets you the chemistry you need, you make a deal. If not, make sure he is going to resign so you don't lose him for nothing!!
well Hanifin apparently wants to play in the US so Nylander for Lindholm makes more sense assuming they want to play in the other city…hockey trade, maybe a small sweetener from Calgary but something close to straight across would work if it's a sign and trade on both sides.
Lindholm would be a instant Tavares upgrade
