When chatting about Debrincat they forgot to mention that another reason for leaving would be that he won't be paying the same taxes in the US as in Canada. He'll be richer for playing south of the border.
For me, there‘s two scenarios with the DeBrincat deal as far as Dorion‘s concerned: 1. he was fully aware that DB wouldn‘t sign longterm and did it anyway, because he knew the buzz would be insane (sells tickets) and it probably wouldn‘t hurt in the Giroux deal either 2. he just didn‘t do his due diligence and p***ed away assets
I agree with Bobby . Coaching will decide whether Ottawa makes the playoffs or not. If they run the same systems as last year, they will not make the playoffs. If the change happens early enough behind the bench I think they do. Certainly have the talent to do it. I also think Boston takes a major step back as well as Tampa Bay. I think they'll both be fighting for a wild card, Buffalo, Ottawa are much better now and Boston/Tampa are ageing out
Wally what information do you have that says they are trying to push out Trent Mann as part of some sort of power move? I guess Anthony Leblanc was all part of this power move too right? Funny how you acknowledge that Andlauer is being consulted as the owner of the Sens but only when it fits your evil media guy narrative.
If there is a move to come, out of all the guys people talk about, is a $4M offer sheet to Alexis Lafreniere, and give up a second round pick to the Rangers if they don't match. He could fit with either Stutzle- Giroux or Norris – Batherson, has a much higher ceiling than any prospect we have, and could be a cheap long term re-signing, moving Kubalik to the third line, which is where I feel better putting him, but I fully agree, this Debrincat trade is already a bust before it even kicks in, and Dorion will be fired if he cant pull off the move he really needs, but if the lineup stays as it is, Im sorry but with DJ at the helm with this roster, they aren't making the playoffs, and Kubalik goers back to the free-agent market, completely busting the Debrincat trade, and Dorion gets fired for sure. Lafreniere with a cheap re-signing, if he lives up to the hype giving him every opportunity to thrive, could save both Dorion and DJ's job. Lafreniere could put up 30 goals with either line, maybe 70 points and most likely would re-sign to a long term deal at second line money, and a solid backup plan should Kubalik walk.
