1. While it's never fun to lose in the playoffs, overall I had an incredible time watching all 94 games this year for the first time. I'm really proud of this team and am excited for what comes next.

  2. Bottom 6 needs more minutes, Soup needs to be average, they'll win the cup.

  3. Oilers will always remain a contender just as long as they have both McJesus and Drai, but every coach couldn't resist outscoring their problems away instead of addressing their defence…

  4. My Oilers hottake is that Stu is a $2.6m starter and Soup is a $5m backup. Whether this set up is good is a different matter, but as a backup Soup has been incredible and provides great relief for Stu as he develops into the starter we know he can be

  5. As an oilers fan, I'm optimistic. Once again, they look to be contenders for the cup. A deadline move or two, and they could even be stronger. This could be the year.

  6. Need the coach not to be stupid and stick with a goalie that was pulled many times in a single series.
Campbell should of been in net for the 6th game vs Vegas.

  7. Woodcroft was outcoached in the VGK series. He's a smart guy though and I think he'll learn from it and come back stronger

  8. Philp has retired from hockey and will not be playing this year, despite still technically being under contract. And Malone will not get playing time in the NHL over Pederson, not at Brad's age.

  9. getting rid of Kostin and Bjustad may hurt them. They did well in the Playoffs. Just adding Brown is a gamble seeing that he is injury probe. Did they do much to make themselves better? Not much. Hopefully Holland has a back-up plan.

  10. You are better at analysis in the sport than the majority of “professionals” and you explain it in layman’s terms so everyone understands what you’re talking keep up the work you’re amazing!

  11. Thing that still worries me is the defence it’s looking pretty weak.

  12. I sincerely believe that with nurse Ceci and Campbell out I think this team could be a dynasty. Just gotta replace them with the right players.

  13. I honestly dont have as much worry about Campbell as many people do. He saved Edmonton's season more or less in the comeback win in game 4 against Los Angeles.

The contract is what it is and a buyout is not an option in the first year of an expensive 5 year deal. Not starting him in the Vegas series at least once was simply a poor coaching decision in my opinion as Skinner ran out of gas.

The key in my eyes is the youth stepping up and filling the holes left in the bottom six and bottom half of the D-core. If Edmonton can get good goaltending from both net minders spliting games nearly in half and get significant contributions from their cheap ELC's, they will be a contender and those question marks will disappear.

  14. They better improve soon because McDavid is wasted and he only has 1-2 years left of his peak.

  15. 30 seconds into the video currently, the oilers will sign bouch to a bridge and they don’t really have any other choice it will be 1-2 years at around 3.5-4 but a lot closer to 4 mil.

  16. Even if Bouchard and McLeod are signed to bridge deals, the Oilers would be nearly capped out and would only have room for depth signings.

The other key aspect to mention is that the Oilers no longer have anyone on LTIR, so they can accumulate cap space during the regular season (i.e. they gain cap space if players are injured) and will be major buyers at the trade deadline. They have their 2024 1st and 2nd round picks and their 2025 1st and 3rd round picks, so they have the draft capital and will probably have the cap space to add a big name at the next trade deadline.

  17. That forward group looks great. The D could use another solid top 4 addition and the goaltending could use some work.

  18. Something tells me our 2 teams will be seeing eachother again in the playoffs quite soon. Should be another good series . Built a bit of a rivalry forsure

  19. As long as Nurse is on the blue line doing nothing but screening his own goalies the Oilers will not win a damn thing

  20. No one's questioning the Oilers continuing to be a contender. That's laughably simple for any team with the power duo of Connor and Leon. The big question mark is how much longer it can last. The aforementioned duo isn't going to put up with continued failure for much longer. Time is running out for Edmonton to bring Lord Stanley home. If they can't do it by the time McDavid's and Draisaitl's contracts expire, they're probably screwed six ways to Sunday.

  21. The problem I see with Nurse other than the contract being too high, is that he's more of a playoff preformer and the stuff that gets uncalled in the post-season compared to the regular season its easier for him to get picked out.
