That was 2 extremely enjoyable minutes. What a wizard.

Was bummed when he left for the KHL back in 16’

I remember watching him play and every single night and almost every single shift, he’d do something absolutely ridiculous and I sat there wondering how does no one know of this guy? It took him many years to finally get the recognition for what he was doing out there. A truly remarkable player

I miss him with the Wings :'(

One of best ever was when he crossed up Couture.

Great summary of Datsyuk ability.

My favorite Red Wing, and I hate them.

He’s definitely one of the guys I wish I had paid more attention to while he was still playing.
In think why I missed him is that Detroit was in the west and the Leafs never made the playoffs.
I absolutely love watching clips of him play.

That Datsyuk backhand is the most insane thing I’ve ever seen
GoldMonk44
One of the most skilled players I’ve ever had the pleasure to watch 👏🏻

The magic man!

That backhander against the sharks down 2 in final 2 minutes of an elimination game is the sickest shot I’ve ever seen.

Almost like it’s *magic*

Whenever I wanna get someone into hockey I show them a clip of Magic Hands at work.

Incredible. One of the most skilled players ever. Miss him and Hank.

DATSYUUUUK! I’m happy i was alive while Datsyuk played NHL hockey. Witnessing his magic live on tv, often scoring game winning goals or scoring from a take away was something i’ll always cherish. He truly is the magic man.

He will forever be my favorite red wing! Growing up in Detroit, all my sticks had to be Datsyuk curve. I remember texting my dad in ‘16 saying “I want to go to a playoff game this year, it may be the last time I witness him live” (Especially a playoff game no less). A few hours later, I get “Game 3, section X, seats X” text from my dad. Absolute NOSE BLEEDS at the Joe (RIP) but it was so incredible for me. It was one of the most memorable games I’ve ever been to, my dad knew how important it was to me to see him play playoff hockey for Detroit one last time… I went to game 3 against Tampa bay in the first round of the playoffs in ‘16, and also many passwords throughout my youth always had the number 13 at the end 🙂

I hate to admit how much I loved watching him play. You can’t be a hockey fan and not appreciate one of the best ever. His takeaways always impressed me nearly as much as his offensive magic. Damn Redwings!

I hated him purely out of respect

my favorite player to watch in my 35-ish years of hockey fandom. so sick.

I miss watching him in his prime. Looking back, makes me realize I took for granted how special he really was. And he is incredibly special. Absolute wizard

I will never get sick of people posting Datsyuk highlights.

Hull said Datsyuk looked like an orangutan with the way he moved. His stick handling and shiftiness were so unique it’s gonna be awhile to see someone deke like him again.

I remember watching Pavs score that shootout goal against Chicago just sitting at the TV fucking dumbfounded. It was the weirdest sequence I’d ever seen. Got a picture of my older boy with him when he was a baby, wild shit.

Pros would literally attend his hockey camps guys got filthy mitts
