@Sharks de San José

1. I think if we can get a 1st + Owen Pickering for EK65 and $3.5m salary retention I think that's a fair trade. We aren't going to be close to the cap for a few seasons anyways, retaining that salary isn't bad.

  2. I hate the Pens trade for 3 reasons. Sid beat Jumbo in 2016, Dubas is notorious for getting bargains and hen overpaying “core assets”, we already traded Adin Hill (last mgmt) but he won a cup with the next team! I’m still waiting on Leafs wanting Karl for Willie + Murray… I can see EK65 liking Pens cause of Sid/Malkin. I’m not eating any of Karl’s cap for 4-years f-that!!

  3. The Sharks should not add too many vets that will improve their record but miss the playoffs. Its better to get one more Top 3 pick next year then go up from there.

  4. JD, if we don’t end up trading Karlsson, I agree that adding Tarasenko is playing with fire. If we can trade EK then I think it’s worth it. Let him rack up points then dump him to a contender for a 1st. Same with Zadina if he can pull it together in the next few years and up his value. If I were a GM id be overpaying players that need to re-up their value on one year contracts and then flip them with 50% retained at deadline. If they don’t pan out, then it’s only a one year deal. Just getting super creative to hoard 1st round picks. If we trade Karlsson, the Value Vlad would bring wouldn’t be enough to counter losing Karlsson. So it’s a win IMO.

  5. Also I feel the EK65 and Burns combo in Car is overblown. You dont have to put them together. you can run 2 legit D lines. I have no idea why people say Burns and Ek don't work well together. well they dont need to be paired up! Im just say this cause CAR has the better prospects.

  6. TBH if we trade EK, get Myers, and get Tarasenko. then I do feel our team will be borderline Playoff contenders. its tough. cause then we are playoff bound and then trade our BARE assests for rental just to do ok in the playoffs. Build up and we can be competitive for years instead of a couple.

  7. There was word about how the Sharks backed out of a trade on July 3rd. Who do you think was involved if true, and why do you think Grier backed out?

  8. JD thanks for the content but ya gotta get more Sharks swag for the background of your set! Lol GO 🦈's!!!

  9. Pittsburgh offering 2 first round picks and 1 or 2 defensemen going to San Jose for Karlsson

  10. Tarasenko is another struggling player with a history of underperforming in playoffs and injuries (shoulder?). His defence would not fit into David Quinn's plans, so Sharks will not sign him as Tarasenko would contradict the team identity Mike Grier is building. Sharks have enough struggling players and being so top heavy with reclamation projects will probably lead them into a big time losing season in 2023-24. Tyler Myers is a struggling player again, and I ask why trade one struggling player (LaBanc) for another and expect different results? Insanity is not high hockey IQ. Can David Quinn turn LaBanc's career around? Struggling players often don't listen to the coaches and live in their own flaws without owning them and wanting to change their identity as the coach demands. Headstrong hockey players who fight against themselves and their own success make management struggle even more. Will this hockey class struggle ever end? Will Sharks coaches and development staff be able to deal with so many separate struggling players? Is there any other way to build an NHL hockey team? Isn't it just human nature to struggle at hockey's many challenges and have bad luck more than good bounces? Mike Grier has to become "the Jazz man" and improvise to get the Sharks out of the always struggling and never succeeding category.

  11. what if we keep karlsson, sign tarasenko and slip into the playoffs, all while NJ makes the ECF and we get that extra 1st anyways. we still reload and have some elite talent

  12. Not worried about Tarasenko making the sharks better. Don't forget that 1) Some players will have down seasons 2) We had relatively few injuries last season, and if that goes back to average, we'll need players 3) Sounds like he will help us let some goals in and help make our goalies worse 🙂

  13. Karlsson said he wants to go to a contender? The Penguins missed the playoffs and all their core players are past their prime. They are not contenders. LOL.

  14. Oh gosh, whatever happened, make this trade happened pls Mike. And do not even think about getting Tarasenko🙄… Even Duclair will be too much I think. But let's hope that Macklin Celebrini will return to San Jose after many years.🤞

  15. JD the channel is starting to really take off! Happy for you man. Thanks for all the hardwork. Last season would have been brutal without LOS.

  16. I'm tired of Labanc underwhelming at every opportunity, make that trade. Meyers is the better asset at the deadline. I'd rather have a young player on the third line and Labanc is not a 4th liner.
