In my opinion, Devils rank anywhere from 1st to 6th when it comes to Metro division prospect pools. Depends on if you consider Holtz, Hughes, Nemec prospects.

After those 3, who all may play in the NHL this year, we are naturally pretty thin. Casey is legit imo. Some mixed potential with guys like Vilen, Filmon, Gritsyuk. But definitely not a top half of the league pool, as much as we tend to naturally overrate our own guys.

The good news is we dont really need any high end prospects to fill big roles for quite some time. 5 of the top 6 is locked in long term (13, 86, 63, 96, 91). Should also be basically completely set on defense with (43,71,88) on the left and (7,6,5) on the right with Casey available in a year or two if needed.

Basically we need a goalie to pop, which is hopefully Schmid. We need someone to plug the last top 6 spot which is hopefully Holtz. And then where the drafting and prospects will really be important is filling out the bottom 6 forwards in addition to a vet free agent here and there. Its why I dont mind them blending together drafts with a mix of best player available but also role guys who theoretically can play a bottom 6 game like Heemanaho or even Stillman (even though he shouldnt have been taken anywhere near the 1st).
