I am going to turn off the cynicism and take him at his word here. As a recovering addict and alcoholic myself (1 1/2 years clean and sober) who has done things to be ashamed of while under the influence myself in the past, it was the people who didn’t judge me that helped me the most in becoming the person I am again today. Huge step entering the program and I wish him nothing but the best in his recovery.

r/hockey is a real cesspool today
You’d think Galchenyuk spends his spare time strangling kittens by the way they’re reacting.

Good luck Alex.

I mean as far as apologies go, can’t do much better except admitting he also has some issues around race and stuff that he’ll work on but yeah. Hope he gets better.

Was looking good until he put the caveat « I’m sorry for what I did etc… « After drinking alcohol.. ».
Don’t blame alcohol for this Alex. 99% of the population can get blasted and not act like this.
That being said I wish him well in recovery.

It’s clear he is sorry. He needs to do the work.
I believe in second chances, but when people drink it lowers inhibitions and magnifies who they really are. Drunk Happy people get silly. Funny people are funnier. Your asshole friend becomes such an asshole that you have to babysit him and are embarrassed by/for him and get sick of it.
Almost everyone knows an Alex type to some degree. They are unbearable drunks and you make excuses for them or stop seeing them. This is situation is when you wait and see. He has way bigger issues than substance abuse.

I knew he was a junkie. I saw his mother’s day pictures with his mom on instagram and I told my dad “Galchenyuk looks on drugs. He is so skinny, got an old face, looks like a junkie.”

Apology accepted. I wish him the best.

Good luck Alex.
I don’t think I’ll ever like another player as much as I liked him while he was a hab.
