Honestly? Unless it’s moved to the summer games, the value to the sport gained by the tournament isn’t worth shutting down the season for three weeks.
It either needs to be moved to the summer or the NHL and PA need to sit down and get serious about a World Cup every 4 years, working WITH the IIHF for qualifying
I’m sure this is an unpopular opinion, but while international tournaments are great and the fact McDavid and others have NEVER played on their national team in a tournament like this, the NHL is right in pushing back over shutting down the league as there’s shown to be no benefit to NHL business when the tournament is outside of North America.

I genuinely like the USA’s chances if this were to happen. But that’s just too far ahead in the future to guess properly, there’s bound to be plenty of younger guys who could be on that team, and older guys that may fall off.
