Flames fans are not even in the same ballpark as Oilers fans for being annoying. There is just something about that group of fans who talk about how great Edmonton is, while simultaneously moving away from that community. I can’t really say I have seen the same cultural attitude from people from the Calgary area.

Again, as a Canucks fan who has grown up seeing these teams constantly go to Game 7 OT’s, it takes a lot for me to dislike a team more than the Flames, yet the Oilers successfully do it.

In the last 16 months we were a Stanley cup front runner with a promising core, lost to our biggest rival in 5 games on a controversial call, lost our two best players in one offseason, somehow came out of that offseason thinking we might be even better with the acquisitions we made, promising d-man misses full season, goalies stopped stopping pucks, locker room is unhappy, coach puts a Sasquatch on the second line for half the season, coach refuses to play young guns, coach pisses off entire team, miss playoffs, coach is fired, GM and team “part ways”, top prospect doesn’t come back because of previous regime, stuck with some big contracts, team leaders with expiring contracts don’t want to re-sign, overall team is too good to tank and too bad to win it all. All the while since 2010 our biggest rival has been gifted every first overall pick including the best player in the league.
I’d say us being toxic is just by existing at this point.
