  1. The answer is a clear no. Might as well discuss is the moon is made of Cheddar.

  2. Gregor tweeted the day Lavoie signed that Lavoie thinks he’ll get picked up on waivers if the Oilers try to send him down. So I guess he plans on making an NHL salary somewhere. We’ll see.

  3. How on earth would we be better lol.
We added what. Brown who had a serious acl Injury? And lost Bjustad, kostin, yams

  4. last year was maybe the best team theyve had and it looks like they'll keep subtracting slowly for the next few years due to the cap.

  5. Go back and look at video…..Sekera would never pass to McDavid.

  6. A couple of things that favors Lavoie is he is right shot, can snipe one-timer, and he is 6'4"

  7. Kostin was like letting Pat Maroon go. Yes. Do you guys remember letting Curtis Glencross go? Not too dissimilar either. Totally without sufficient explanation.
Al Mitchel says “get good players. Keep good players”.
I know GM’s don’t always have doctorate degrees, but it seems like the right approach and not too hard to keep in your head.

  8. Well that list was a horrific trip down memory lane! A lot of face palming. Could of done a whole week of podcasts on that! But thanks COH!

  9. Yes, they have been for 5-6 years now….if they had a real HC instead of a green Rookie who has dropped the ball twice in a row they would be defending the Cup and 2024 would be the year that a DYNASTY is built on a 3rd consecutive Stanley Cup…yes sure they are very very much improved…..now they need a Coach who is @ the Teams evolutionary level, sometimes a GM has to make a bold move..

  10. I don’t quite see why you have to pay a guy as your number one D man if he’s not as good as an average 1. If playing top pairing minutes makes him worth more, ok, but it’s not the same as playing those minutes AND being an elite D man if he isn’t at the quality level of an elite player. He got payed like an elite player. Further, that thing people always said about how he’d taken cheap contracts previously so now you have to pay him extra was bunk. Ok, sweeten it a little if you want to be nice. But 9.25x umpteen years?! That’s not rewarding a guy for taking team friendly contracts. That’s being dumb.

Actually I don’t even see why other player contracts have to be almost incontrovertible benchmarks for your player’s salary. If another team like Chicago overpays a similar guy to what you have, it isn’t logical to say your guy gets that much. There was a rash of really high D contracts just prior to Nurse, but they were too high, and it could be argued that Nurse wasn’t as good as them as well. People talk as if recent contracts are the only way to determine other contracts. So bizarre.

This might sour my argument for some people, but I think he’s ok on average. Take his constant mistakes and balance them with the good things he does, and maybe he’s actually worth 6.75M. But you can differ with me on the price. My arguments remain the same until refuted.

  11. glad, u have better weather now.
Really depressing here in southern germany too rn, but it apparently will change to sunny in a few days…who knows.

  12. I know the Oilers want depth but imo they would have been better served signing Kostin and letting Ryan and Janmark go.

  13. Klim Kostin a below average player ?
Yeah, weird take by that one Toronto guy.
Actually, i hope the red wings didn't get a steal with Klim.
And that stat about, how we lost 4 of our best goal-share players by Bruce…ouch.
The problem is see with Holloway and Lavoi.
If they are great for the regular season or parts of it, they do not necessarily need to be good in the playoffs.
It's tough for young players to be consistently good.
Skinner might actually be an example with his play not doing as well in the playoffs compared to regular season.
Well, let's hope for the best.
In the end, a tighter defensive system should help everybody 🙂

  14. The fact that you guys still downplay how good Vegas is is laughable . If you were the “better team” you would’ve won the series . No bad calls or circumstances were anywhere near large enough to swing the series . Good teams overcome those things and your team didn’t . Only thing you can possibly say Edmonton had over Vegas was a better top end forward talent . That’s it. Vegas had better coaching, better goaltending, better defense, better systems and more depth . Vegas was CLEARLY the better team. You gotta get right with that. You also gotta hope your front office can get right with that because if they run back the same team it’s going to keep happening to you. You have massive holes in your team. McDavid and Draisaitl can’t carry the entire team. No matter how good they are . Regardless. Pretty laughable to me how much I still see Oilers fans downplay how good Vegas was. Vegas made every single star goaltender they faced look awful and got them all pulled atleast once in each series except against Winnipeg . But Hellebuyck very likely should’ve been pulled in game 3 but wasn’t because they don’t have a good enough backup to have any chance in doing that. If not for that they would’ve gotten every team to pull their goaltender . They were overwhelmingly dominant . Just acknowledge it Jesus . I can acknowledge how good McDavid and Draisaitl are . Best 2 players in the league. I can also acknowledge that powerplay is like nothing I’ve ever seen before in my life. Almost a guaranteed goal. Would love to see Oilers fans acknowledge how good Vegas was and that they got beat fair and square .

  15. Loosing Klim really socks!!! Maybe Holloway & Lavoie will make us forget all about Klim !!! Getting Brown is fantastic!!!😊

  16. Holland letting Kostin go was one of his 2 huge huge blunders, and Im just astounded Ken let that happen. Huge mistake. The soft Oilers just got a lot softer. Wow..

  17. I'll never understand why Holland decided to keep McLeod and let Kostin go. Kostin offers way more value than McLeod. Holland obviously couldn't keep both and had to pick one. Holland made the wrong choice.

  18. The McDavid era has been plagued by the Klefbom injury and those lost draft choices trying to patch the position up, and the stale cap due to covid. Still, Oilers are in a position to win.

  19. A lot is in the Oilers hands. At the end of last season, Drai said something like “we *sometimes* have to focus more on defense”. It has to be upgraded to “we *always* have to play tougher defense”.
