Its a little odd to think Russia/Russian Hockey, etc would think they can soil him enough that all 32 teams pass on him in all rounds. That's basically the only scenario where his timeline would change.

At this point rumours are being made up left right and centre, these habs fans are just believing everything they hear even if there is no source or there is. In russia its a lot more strict, coaches are always up your arse and stuff if he was really that bad and a "poison" then he wouldnt even be called up to the KHL let alone be allowed to play in the VHL.

Nick Bobrov's father works for SKA St. Petersburg. Unless they're on bad terms, it's probably safe to say that Nick Bobrov can get reliable information about Michkov. If the rumors about Michkov's bad attitude were a smokescreen coming from Russia, wouldn't Bobrov know the truth?

Habs made the right choice. I picked up on what many scouts were saying about Michkov 2 months ago. Many were not from the Habs camp too. Far more questions than answers.

Everyone has to stop looking for excuses why he wasn't picked 5th overall. Just as with anything, if you hear rumours about a player from trusted sources, then you will listen to them. If that pick could at some point be a cancer in the locker room, then you stay away from them. Period.
As a Flyers fan I am happy the Canadiens scouts are so gullible to believe the same single story that Michkov is a bad guy. .
Let is go, Michkov will be better than Reinbacher and the Habs will regret it… Come back to it in a few years

Real Reason: The Habs din't want Mitchkov for political/public image reasons. They already put themselves in trouble by picking Logan Mailloux, for which they had to do a lot of PR to fix, including hiring many women on staff to virtue signal. Probably owner Jeff Molson said I don't want anymore of that crap.. They wanted Smith… and were hoping for Mitchkov to go before Smith so they wouldn't have to turn him down publicly. But then, Smith went before Mitchkov so the Habs were stuck with the hot potato. So they went for Reinbacher. Why Reinbacher? Because he is a Dman and being a Dman, he fills a different rôle and his career points will never be compared to Mitchkov!… Brilliant idea!… If Mitchkov didn't exist, the Habs would have taken Leonard or Benson because we need offensive talent very badly. So we kind of lost twice: First for not getting Mitchkov, and second for not selecting a talented forward which we desperately need. Remember Carry Price not remembering Reinbacher's name? That's because they picked him 3 minutes before going up on stage… This my friends is the REAL reason, the media knows about this but no one will ever say.
Somehow the Habs kept their eyes closed when they drafted Logan Mailloux first round in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
