1. EVERY single team should be building within it is the cheapest and most controlling way to keep a team together.
I was surprised that most of the league is over the cap and simply relying on LTIR.
IMO the Wild should like all teams take the plus minus seriously.Wild lack really good D they lack big star forwards so they need to be a solid complete team much like Vegas.
They lost to Dallas who had a really good plus based first line with a bounce back season by Benn. The Wild don't really have any big plus players definitely not a complete number 1 line like Dallas's first line.
I have always like Goligoski but he imo is finally getting old and losing Dumba just makes them much weaker. The bonus is as mentioned just maybe some young players come in and surprise everyone.

  2. Absolutely no expectations for the Wild, that defence is solid and they got good goaltending. If either crumbles or there is injuries and if none of the kids progress as planned, there's no playoffs for the Wild.

If everything goes their way, it's possibly heartbreak season again in Minnesota. There's absolutely no way they win the cup but for the love of all that's holy just win a round, please?

  3. Say what ypu will about the post season success but it really remarkable what they have been able to do with middle of the pack drafting and 15 million bucks in dead cap.

  4. People need to stop mentioning the buyouts they made no change to their cap structure these upcoming years. Parise and Suter were on the books for $7.5M each anyways until 2025. They were going to have $15M dead space effectively anyways

  5. Being in real contention to make the playoffs is pretty great considering the buyouts

  6. Call it sour grapes, but it still grinds my gears how the Wild were punished for a decision made before a new rule was implemented. No other team with similar a situation was penalized like the Wild. It feels unfairly punitive, and feels like Bettman is ok with it because he knows Minnesota fans will show up no matter how the team is doing.

Wild fans are just resigned to the fact they have 2 "lame duck" seasons ahead. It sucks, but I'm excited to see Yurov, Khusnutinov, Wallstedt, and Ohgren as early as 2024. Add Faber + 2-3 other strong D prospects + 15ish million to spend in FA in 2025, and there's a lot of hope for the backend of the '20s. We're getting ansy, no SCF wins in almost 50 years of pro hockey.

  7. Nashville is underrated and I don't see Minnesota finishing above Colorado or Dallas. That leaves them fighting for a WC spot with either Seattle or LA, along with Winnipeg and Calgary and possibly Vancouver and St. Louis. Finishing behind all of those teams would give them a top 8 pick, which I wouldn't mind at all, but it's never fun to spend a year watching your team lose.

  8. To start Gus filing for arbitration
    Is a plus for Minnesota
They use a three year models
For goalies his two terrible years
And one good year sides for Minnesota
I expect Rossi will be on the number one line with Kaprisov Zuggs ad I believe
He blossoms! The kids are coming
    Walker Beckman Rossi Faber
All make the team, as for defense
Iowa wild have several waiting in the wings , peart Mermis. Orouke to name a few the problem with Minnesota is
The coach Dean Everson I expect he will
Have a mental break down having to play the kids and are new assistant coach
Takes over in Dean Evason you have a coach whos wisdom was to bench
Gustafson after stealing the first game of the playoffs his line combinations are terrible ,he refuses to make any adjustments in game
    In Billy we trust

  9. The Wild don't get cheap offensive help until next summer. Yurov, Ohgren and Khusnutdinov look pretty good in Europe and they all are scheduled to come over a year from now. Also, if the Wild look good next year they can actually trade at the deadline for someone good and sign him for term in Feb/March 2025. This year could be really mediocre and I give them a 50/50 chance of making the playoffs.

  10. Personally as a Wild fan, they should and need to play the youngsters this year and next. If they make the playoffs the next 2 years it will be as a wild-card.

  11. Crazy how two players signed years ago who don’t even play for the team could hinder the team from winning a cup.

  12. Kaprizov had a down year this season by his standards. Idk why barely any1 has talked about that yet

  13. Firstov is long gone……..he will never play for the NHL club. He's been loaned to the KHL. He'll never return IMHO…..

  14. I think Daemon Hunt will get some minutes this coming season over Lambos…….but Lambos projects more toward the 24-25 season……he needs some seasoning in the AHL.

  15. There’s no hope any MN franchise will ever win a championship

  16. One of the hardest teams to play.. probably overachievers.. luckily one solid star players to build around but gonna be hard to get past a couple rounds in the playoffs in the near future.

  17. The fact Guerin is still able to ice a competitive team despite those huge cap penalties is impressive.

  18. pretty sure ohgren committed to another year in the SHL as did firstov in the KHL

  19. Yessss, Gaudreau respect. Love that guy. His energy, his work ethic, and I don't even like the shootout but I love to see what he does. People talk about glitch goals thinking of nasty Zegras dangles, but Freddy G scores glitch goals like it's 2005 and the goalie AI has gotten stuck between animations so the PS2 simply gives up on calcating collision.

  20. Calling the Suter and Praise contracts horrible is like calling the black plague a slight increase in sick people. Whoever the moron is that drew them up should be drawn and quartered. The contracts were clearly terrible when they were signed, but with the buyout they became probably two of the top 3 worst contracts ever signed, right after DiPietro.

  21. They will flourish after this period.
Geurin has been able to ice a team that is better than most with less money. When he gets access to that 14 million I suspect this team could be a gem.

  22. No, we're not there with Minnesota yet, because of their cap situation. They are a hard team to predict this season because of it. I respect the work Guerin has done though.

  23. Novak also beat cancer recently so he still needs to work his way back. Kaprizov was out basically a month last season and they actually scored more without him then with him lol

  24. Wat am i lookin at? They had all the money to pay dumba 8 mil ? Dont tell me someone gives him 9million 😂😂 those other ufa rfas are complite no name donkeys let em go. And offering dumba 7-8 for two years would gotten him

  25. And still no one has picked up Dumba? I don't get it. I wish they could retain him for the next year.

  26. Novak not coming back from an injury, but from cancer treatment. Hopefully, he will pick up where he left off.

  27. Considering the amount of that dead cap hit-Guerin has done well fielding a competitive team.Liked him as a player and now as a Gm.He took no bull from anyone on the ice and he’s not shy when it comes to making moves.

  28. Everyone saying this team will be better in 2 years is forgetting a few things. 1. Most of this roster will be in their 30's within the next 2 years. Unless we just let everyone walk which isn't going to happen I don't think. We will have brodin and spurgeon making 13,575,000 against the cap and both have no movement clauses and both will be in their mid to late 30's. Addison is in evason's dog house and soon kaprizov will be too I'm sure because evason has a new guy each year he puts in the dog house. First it was parise, then it was fiala, then last season it was both addison and dumba. Notice that 3 of those 4 are gone. Evason will find someone new or he will pick on addison to the point he wants on. 2. Evason has never won a playoff series as a pro head coach and if you include his whole career as a head coach, he is 1-12. His lone series win being in the whl many years ago now. The guy doesn't adjust. He got beat in 5 games by the coach that had beat him in 7 games 2 years before in petr deboer. The guy doesn't learn for crap. He needs to be fired. Him not starting fleury in game 4 after his horrendous game 2 was the first adjustment evason has made as a head coach in the playoffs as a wild head coach. That's it. The guy needs to be canned.

  29. I give you a lot of credit for putting up the names people should start to get familiar with. 👍🏼Only addition I have for this year is defenseman Daemon Hunt. He has a sneaky opportunity to squeak onto the roster if he has a great camp, especially if Addison struggles. Was said last year he was very close to being called up at the end of the year. Great job like always Hockey Guy!!!

  30. What is interesting about the Wild is a systemic belief that being a playoff team is more important then embracing elements of a rebuild. Any other team with the cap restrictions would likely use last year and this year as tank years to get elite superstars to play with kaprizov. Luckily the scouts have allowed the wild to maximize the value of their mid round picks, getting guys like wallstedt, yurov, ohgren, Khusnutdinov, lambos, etc
Time will tell if this wave of prospects will break the cycle of good but not good enough, but i believe they have the right ingredients to be a cup winning team in 3-4 years

  31. Rossi needs absolutely needs to do something or atleast show his promise again, if he can’t figure it out we gotta trade him or something

  32. Yeah. Most of us who are MN fans just see any success while under the dead money as a bonus.

Might it be smarter to tank and get good picks? Sure, but then you probably loose Kaprizov and our other young talent by the time we're out from under.

  33. please rewatch sammy watkins plays last year. Guy looked very comfortable with silky mits. bump him up.
