With 9 defenders now, I think wideman goes on waivers to help out Laval and petry gets flipped. Also, DeSmith will most likely replace primeau in Laval since he’ll most likely be picked up on waivers. Don’t see Allen getting traded. He’s a great veteran that will help Monty grow!

well armia and gallagher. gallagher is not worth the money and if they can do more magic they should trade him as well, but the trade is amazing. petry for two years at 4.63 million is fine but he can be flipped as well. why wouldsan jose take hoffman??? what a deal.

I wonder how Petry fees about this? iMO sharks came out losers in this. Dumbas has no option but to add another star veteran for a shot at 2 more years of playoffs before they will have to rwbuild. Habs got a great deal here making room for a forward group and getting a 2nd rd pick is solid and if they retain salary they can get another 2nd rder

If you consider that Petry signed his contact with the MTL, then you have your explanation why MTL was not on his no-trade list. Now because Mrs. Petry will refuse to report to MTL, then I think Mr. Petry will be open to waiving his NTC entirely… but I think only contending teams will be interested.
Great trade that could become a legendary if they get good return for Petry, even with 25-50% retained. I think that Petry and another roster player, in exchange for a roster player is possible, but getting a good draft pick could be a long shot.
I continue to have much faith in the Habs management team. I believe these are all smart moves by Hughes and company. Be on the outlook for more moves to come. GHG

Now that there are no more issue with Covid, Petry could be willing to commit to Montreal, has it makes it easier to move is familly around US/CA.
These 3 things will happen hopefully before the season starts :
1 of Allen/Monty/DeSmith gets traded, logic would say the older one gets chopped but who knows
Petry gets traded for young players/picks with salary retention for sure.
1 or 2 veteran defensemen also get traded, im thinking about Wideman and Savard.
