Petry is getting moved 1000% we were only included in the deal because he had a M-NTC against San Jose, he probably didn’t include us in his list because he got traded from MTL, he assumed there could be no interest here for his services … which to be fair he was right we wanted DeSmith, a prospect and a 2nd round pick, not him.
He’s going to be traded before the season starts with salary retained by Montreal to a contender for young players/prospects and picks.
Im just interested to see which team MTL is going to fleece for a 3rd or 4th time in a Petry trade.

Junkie, I think Hughes and Gorton have lost their minds. EVERY move they did up to the draft, i was stoked about, i was thinking wow, this rebuild is going great! We were progressing nicely, then the draft came, dun dun dun…. and Hughes and Gorton just lost their shit, apparently. I think their plan is to have such amazing defense that we dont even need a goalie, the D will take care of that, and scoring goals?? Who needs a 40-50 goal guy?? We just need one goal a game, with the amazing D, we will win every game 1-0. We just need one a game, because our D will hold the other teams off the scoreboard! That's an amazing trade. We got rid of Hoffman without retaining salary, we got a decent 2nd goalie in DeSmith, a 2nd round pick, a AHL guy to replace one of the kid that will make the Habs team this year (Ylonen or Heineman) and Petry has a much better value than Hoffman in my book so he should be trade to another team for another 2nd rounder. And don't forget we might also trade either Allen or DeSmith for another 2nd. Teams always need goalie when injuries come.

Great news for anyone that kept their Petry jersey 🫣😎 But they still have 26 roster players, the same as when we woke up this morning, and I think it would be really impressive if they can get a good draft pick for Petry (with some salary retention)…maybe if they add another roster player going out…like say Casey DeSmith😉

I REALLY don't see Petry playing a single game in MTL again. It's the first part of something I think. I mean, just with the family situation for Petry when he requested a trade from MTL like when… Yesterday lol!? (sure feels like it).
He's going somewhere else and can be very useful for various team as his spot can be hard to fill, harder to compensate with injuries, etc.
Can someone tell us whether he had NTCs while he was playing in Pitt? If so, if he decided to lift it, with everything we know regarding his past desire to leave MTL, he must know that he's going somewhere else in an upcoming trade.
If for some CRAZY nonsense Petry is back to actually play, might he be possible to move at the TDL? Some info on his current contractual situation would be awesome. How long, and how much with what Pitt is retaining? Because depending on those things he might not even be possible to move at the TDL, unless he starts playing like a Norris candidate lol 😛 (I mean, he got close to the top 10 a few seasons… But yeah, no, it's pure fantasy lol…).

Hughes is a genius he got rid of Hoffman picked up a serviceable goalie and with Pittsburg paying part of petry s salary he can now trade him and army in a package deal possibly picking up a few good draft picks .

I stopped watching during the season much of the last season that Petry was in MTL because I just couldn't stomach how horrible they were playing. So, I still like him. I do agree that his best days are behind him. But he may provide some guidance for the young ones.

The new NHL is not only on the ice but in the front office. They are not former players who use to win 5-card stud on the bus(charter plane). Petry 100% does not want to be here. Every team knows are d-core is the most delicious in the NHL and as much as we want, we can not keep em all. Any play-off bound team wants a Petry but would they want a Hoffman? I can see Hughes pissing a lot of GMs off with his 3rd team involvement. Am sure Hughes is on a conference call and playing Jedi mind tricks to fleece another trade! New NHL? This trade was amazing for Montreal and ya we took Petry back but he’s gonna be gone soon again.. there is absolutely no way Montreal keeps him. Petry will be gone and we will get more assets for him 👏🏼👏🏼 amazing asset management by Kent Hughes. Penguins retained salary and now Petry’s Cap hit is 4,687,500 until 2025, Montreal could also Retain salary when they move him to increase the return if they would like to do that or just move him and get what you get but this is still a great move for Montreal. We got Matheson almost for nothing and we will still benefit from the trade that brought Matheson to Montreal… This is one of the reasons why I wasn’t to mad about Montreal taking Reinbacher at this years draft because Kent Hughes is really really good at making trades and he’s also very smart when it comes to managing the Cap space and asset management, So when you have a smart GM like him there are other ways to get Star/Superstar players other then the draft plus what we already have on the team is very good like Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Slafkovsky , Newhook and the defence prospects we have are amazing as well so Kent Hughes will have no problem adding a big time player threw free agency or trades and make this team better… Montreal next summer will have sooo much cap space i believe it’s almost more then 23 million we will have to spend and Kent Hughes will capitalize on that… This team is so much more exciting then it has been in YEARS!! Can’t wait!! Go Habs Go!
