  1. Desperate attempt by dubas to keep this team competitive. Wont work. Pens will not make the playoffs, turned themselves into the sharks team Karlsson joined couple years ago. Shoulda been keeping draft picks and prospects and retooling on the fly instead of buying at trade deadline and crippling their future. Hate me all u want but im not wrong

  2. The thing is you can’t rebuild with the core they have, the only option is to go all in while you have Crosby, Malkin and Letang

  3. As a wings fan, we did the same. They'll pay the piper eventually but, I hope, at the very least, they can give Sid another chance to go on a deep run. Not a big fan of some of Dubas' moves but, the dude has cahones for adding Karlsson given his past health. Health is key for most teams but, I think it will be a premium factor in how well the Pens will do. Prep for the worst, hope for the best.

  4. Crosby is still an elite player still capable of getting 100pts being a plus and winning faceoffs yeah an elite player.
If I was Pitts I would call MTL again because Pinard is a scorer he can skate and is cheap and Pitts could use him on the wing.
There is more I would give Florida a call for a very under rated defenseman Josh Mahura he makes less than 1 mil and imo would make Ptts def better.

  5. Losing Guentzel for some time would make a guy like Pinard even more desirable because imo you put Pinard with say Crosby he is easily a 30 goal scorer maybe 35-38.

  6. 1:12 Ever listened to the Frank Ocean song "Ivy"? It's a classic. "I ain't a kid no more. We'll never be those kids again." Shoutout to the Pittsburgh Recreational Hockey Club For Aging NHL Veterans. Sentimental favorites. Just don't mess with my Canes this year. Not that you'd even want to with that feeble roster!!

  7. Pens are irrelevant. Past their prime and will be injury riddled. Foolish move with the Atlantic and Eastern conference being a murders row of teams.

  8. Continuing w/ so many older players just to get them another ring is not good for the team or fans if it means needing a lot of young players at the same time is going to make for a longer rebuild.

  9. Why are we discussing EK and his defense when so many forwards dont play defense and score much less than Karlsson? Its a mindless discussion.

  10. i dont think karlsson will be better than letang on the PP… he has been developping chemestry with sid and geno for more than 15 years…..

  11. I love the Karlsson trade, However if you had Mario, Gretzky, and Jagr on a killer line, it wouldnt matter with swiss cheese Jarry in net. I am hoping that the kid from Detroit takes control of the net.

  12. Penguins have a better chance than my capitals to make playoffs, but honestly they’ve had the same results as us the past like 5 years, first round exit

  13. Shannon, question
So, long story short… Of the playoffs teams last year, imo 7 of the 8 are definitely better than the Pens and Washington who also has aspirations of returning to the playoffs!
That leaves the only vulnerable team as the isles for 2 teams looking to return to the playoffs! The isles finished last year with 243 goals without full seasons from Barzal Engvall Horvat and Wahlstrom which if all healthy should bring them around 300! They also return the same D and goaltending! SO, I don't think the other playoff teams have a problem beating Pitt and Washington, again leaving the isles, do they have what it takes to return over 2 aged teams who's windows imo are closed…

  14. IF Karlsson can stay healthy the pens should content for a playoff spot like last year. I dont see how this trade makes them better overall tho, they didnt really address their needs. Next year will be squeeze into the playoff if you can and pray

  15. People keep bringing up the penguins are an old team which is true, but they didnt miss the playoffs because of that. Their old players performed the best for them (in Sid, Geno, and Letang). Yes a guy like Malkin isnt as good as he was in 2009 but he also has a way lower cap hit than he did back in the day as well. All of the other pieces on that team didn't step up which is why they missed last year (especially that bottom 6 and goaltending.)

  16. I think the most important thing is with these big trades the Penguins actually got a little younger which in hockey I think is really important. I think this move Keeps Us ahead of both Buffalo and the New York Islanders

  17. Their not aging, they're just old. Be honest. S Poulin is a winger, not a center, subsequently doesn't have to wait for either Crosby or Malkin to retire. Don't forget, Fleury was on Pittsburgh as well and was a first overall draft selection, which was originally Florida's traded to acquire M Samuelsson from Pittsburgh.

  18. In mentioning Yager, you needed to remember Mateychuk that went to Columbus

  19. Karlsson will end up getting hurt dobbing his bingo card duing team activities on an off day.

  20. Going with the Doug Wilson strategy, I don't know if that's too smart. At least they have already won multiple cups with their aged stars. But when it's over…..😬😬
The cupboard will be bare and it will be a long way back to respectability. Unless the NHL powers that be hook them up with another generational talent in the lottery.
I'm a Sharks fan and Doug should have just cut bait after the initial cup run with Karlsson. Once that didn't work, he should have started the rebuild right there. I knew Doug was delusional when he gave Vlasic that huge contract a few years prior. Doug was a guy who would double down when he made trades. If he traded a first rounder for a player, he was gonna do everything he could to sign that player to a long term contract, right or wrong. He did it with Jones, Kane and Karlsson recently. Funnily enough, with decent playoff goaltending, the Sharks could have finish3d the job in one of those years when they had a really good team. But the Nabokov, Niemi and Jones trifecta didn't work out for them.
    Didn't mean to turn this into a Sharks/Wilson rant. Can't help it……😂

  21. as a leaf fan my heart goes out to all pens fans. you have the biggest fraud of a person as your gm

  22. Crosby and Malkin both were a PPG last year. Neither missed a game. I do wonder how the PP will shake out.

  23. Still doesn’t look like a playoff team to me. Detroit, Ottawa, Columbus and Buffalo are all going to be more improved than last season. Who are these guys passing to get in? I understand the feeling of trying to get the core another cup. However, it’s totally unrealistic to expect it to happen, and you’re causing long term damage to the franchise over a hope and a prayer.

  24. So hard to watch the Pens trying to win with the style of hockey from 10 years ago, and with old players , sad watching this team going down and no one trying to do anything to change it

  25. Karlsson didn't to stay with Sens and Sharks for rebuild, but he agree to go to pens? money grab and short term stay until the matter will surface again.

  26. It’s pretty ironic that EK wanted to be traded to a cup contending team, and gets traded to the same exact team situation that the sharks were in when EK first arrived in SJ, long contacts, plenty of NMCs, cap trouble, aging players, etc. Although, SJ didn’t have players on the caliber of Crosby and Malkin. Gonna be an interesting couple seasons for Pittsburgh.

  27. Letang's contract won't be too bad, he's almost certain to get hurt and spend the final 2 seasons of that on LTIR so it's not a problem anymore.

  28. crosbitch isnt going to win another cup regardless on if they start the rebuild now or not, the teams to old, they are far to slow and they just can't compete as hard, crosbitch is done he should just tell management that its time for a full rebuild and accept that the teams old and crippled

  29. The Penguins are nothing like the Detroit redwings back in the day. Those guys were completely washed up. The penguins players are still at the top of their game, if not still real good. It’s really up to Jarry staying healthy
