i don't particularly want nylander. yes, he's a good player, but he doesn't really play the type of game we're looking for. he scores points, but he avoids the high traffic areas. also, we'd be giving up layers and prospects we don't want to give up for a guy with one year left whose salary demand is a fair bit more than i'd be willing to pay. maybe he'd have been more wiling to take the 8.5 he deserves if dubas hadn't overpaid the other 3. maybe you can get pesce and, say, ryan suzuki out of carolina for him.

Willy is the most dangerous Leaf offensive player, especially in the playoffs. Somehow he elevates under pressure, unlike the 2 higher paid forwards on this team (especially Mitch btw!). He is actually scary with the puck – just ask defenceman on the other playoff teams Leafs faced, they will tell you. As for Mitch, getting married usually signals a signficant drop-off in performance for athletes, so look for a sub-par year in 23/24 – save this quote please. Sage advice. Why won’t Nylander just play out his existing Leafs contract & sign with the Habs if he wants for $10 Million? All Nylander has to do is play out his existing contract.
Leafs have to find a way to balance the team. Willy is the only one of the top 4 that can be traded. If the Leafs trade willy it is mostly to make cap space to get a defenseman and they would have to find a right winger. David Savard and Josh Anderson is what I would go for.

Nylander is well worth it! He competes hard and has been playing as an underpaid player compared to Marner, Matthews and Tavares! Give the guy a piece of the pie! He deserves it! He outperforms the other 3 come playoff time!
