Good show. I agree with you that the Sabres are ahead of Ottawa in their rebuild. I would put the Red Wings a distant third amongst those teams and I actually think they’re a little closer to Montreal than they are competing with Buffalo in Ottawa. All three teams have a lot of really good young players, though.

  2. Sens are on the radar. But I believe we still are just one step away. Goaltending for them is the big question. Pipeline hands down we are #1

  3. Don't forget Josh norris is back he was top center going into last year. Had 35 goals in 66 games year before. He covers debrincats #'s then add kubalik and tarasenko. Sens already had 6 20 goal scorers most in league last year and added chycrun. They will be dangerous. Goalie a question for buf,Ottawa and Detroit.

  4. Sens fan here got to agree with a lot of what you have to say. I think with the moves the sens have made they are slightly ahead of the sabres for this coming season but the sabres have a deeper pool and are ahead of the sens for the long run that way. I’m also not really seeing the wings hype sure they got some good pieces and are going to get better but I don’t see them near ott or buff yet and habs I think are a non factor they don’t sound like there committed to a true rebuild and have good enough pieces to get back to that middle quick sand.

  5. I do like what you have to say here. I think the Korpisalo signing was as big as it was because its never easy to convince free agents to come here, so something had to give. However when you mentioned Tarasenko being a defensive liability (which he isn't great defensively), DeBrincat was a -31, so I cant see Tarasenko being worse. But all in all, I think both Sens and Sabres make the playoffs next year, and could see Florida (due to their injuries), and the NY Islanders miss.

  6. Totally agree on the Sabres having more depth than Ottawa, but good luck paying them. Buffalo has the ability to turn that young talent into finding perfect pieces or prolonging the window.

Debincat vs Kubalik? Looks bad, but it was Kubalik + 4+ million in cap space.

  7. The only wrong thing you said was about Chris Neil. Do you need to rewatch highlights?

  8. As a Senators fans I really like Joe as a Podcaster. Good job! And, i find him level headed and realistic. I will only add that Senators prospect pool is lower just because theyve had luck at drafting slightly higher end talent that were immediately brought up to the NHL. I think its a fairer comparison T look at players under 25 to assess potential. Personally, i love sabres depth and think very highly of Thompson, cozens is good too. I would say that Ottawa's top 9 does have a slight edge over buffalo. And ottawas defense is deeper. On top of gaving 5 top 4 defense caliber players that are all youngwr than 25 and still developing in the active roster, they have underrated defense Tyler Klevin, Jacok Bernard-Docker and Thompson NHL ready and chomping at the bit to crack the roster. Senators also just brought up Ridly Greig as a top prospect who hasn't yet played 30 games, so he'll be a rookie next season. He has the potential of netting 20-25 goals as a rookie and score between 35-50 points. He's flying under the radar.
