Don had a lot of accurate comments. I have AHLTV as well.
A small side note that could contribute to their dive in the last 3rd of the season is playing the system the parent team uses.
Some of it doesn't translate as well in the A because it is a different league and has it's own dynamics.
The Reign still try to stay with the system the Kings play because all players need to be rooted and grounded in that system.
Not play a system that succeeds in the AHL but is nothing close to the system the Kings play.
The PLD for the Vilardi 3 trade was good. We just have association/nearness bias. My fan heart was tugged that way too!
Rasmus Kumari was intimidated by Edmonton. He would hesitate when confronting mainly physical play. This was mainly on the offensive side of his play. The symptom was a hesitation. Caused the whole line to break down. Hoping Rasmus will be better in the next year and playoffs is not a good plan.
Gabe Vilardi was back/neck injury is prone to flare-ups (lost games because of it). Gabe's a pure puck handler and scorer. PLD is 2-way player oriented (in his mind and feels he can improve). He has room to grow. PLD is another coaches son. PLD can be a major factor in the playoffs (and is proven in that way).

The business side of the game does better in the long run. Assets and cap hits going forward. Rasmus and Alex needed to be changed and Gabe was a financial unknown. The Kings have financial known in PLD for 8 years.
Thanks for answering my question/statement. PLD gave a middile finger to his team in Columbus and refused to perform. Everyone remembers him getting out on the ice and choosing not to play a shift because he was unhappy with Torts or whatever. Obviously, this guy believes himself to be special and a superstar or whatever and the Kings don't need that in the lockerroom. Two teams now for him and two trade requests in 5 seasons. Richards was a better player at both ends but his offense went down in the Kings. Sutter probably wanted him to play differently or whatever but he was better offensively. Unfortunately, Mike's career imploded but he was a true team captain. Even Jeff Carter was on the Blue Jackets and was unhappy but he didn't do anything near what PLD did and Carter was a bigger star at that point. PLD seems like a guy with a big ego. That worries me. He will come to the team and demand they make him happy. Ask not what your hockey team can do for you but what you can do for your hockey team.
