I can see why a player like him has struggled in the playoffs (drives the net when it’s convenient and only then) but he would immediately make PP2 better and could slot in next to either Crosby or Malkin in the event of an injury to a top-six winger.
FYI — Rob Rossi is quote-tweeting a post in which Tatar outright says he has been talking to the Pens. This isn’t Rossi imagining what’s best for the Pens.

He’s my #1 remaining priority personally (he’s also the best remaining UFA aside from Kane). He’d be huge in helping the top 9, which is my biggest question mark for the team now that we have EK (the 3rd line that is)
If he doesn’t work out, I’d like to see Ethan Bear to take the 3rd RHD spot (unless we’re going to roll with POJ-Ty Smith, but I know Sully likes his 3 LHD/3 RHD set up lol) because I like Ruhwedel far more as the 7D. Also, I would be totally down for The Phil to come back home lol cheap deal, play him on the 3rd line RW + PP2, and we’d get to celebrate his 1,000th point lol
Last case scenario I can think of is bringing back Heinen, but I’d prefer the other options first before that route
