Myers going on LTIR with Chronic Longneckitis

Still would prefer to keep Myers. Yes, he’s overpaid, but if injuries happen, he can still be adequate on a 2nd pairing, especially if he does not have to kill PK’s regularly.

His overall numbers make him a strong 3rd pairing guy, but I do get for his salary, that is cumbersome

Im not going to do a deep-dive into the opening night cap because a lot can/will change between now and opening night.

Theres a lot they can do in terms of papering guys down, and they don’t need to have a full roster.

It’s better to keep Myers, he will be extremely motivated himself as it is a contract year as well.

    >That’s 11 forwards at a total of $42.025 million. For the time being, we’ll add Pearson and his $3.25 million cap hit to the pile for a total of 12 forwards and $50.025 million.

That’s some bad math, but his final number w/ Pearson in is correct. The 11 forwards sans Pearson is 46.775M. Looks like he skipped Mikheyev when he added up the first 11.

That out of the way, I kind of don’t know what PA is doing here. Buying out OEL was the right move in that he had to go and buying him out bought us enough cap space that we could negotiate to trade out a winger freely without being in a place where we had to pay assets to move otherwise movable pieces just because we were over a barrel and everyone knew we HAD to make a move like that. I like the Suter signing, but PA REALLY needed to be trading one or two wingers out BEFORE making that signing, because now we’re back where we were needing to move someone out and dealing from a place where we can’t afford to walk away again.

If he can pull it off, great, but I just don’t see it happening. I fully expect to see us spending picks to shift a contract where it probably wouldn’t have been necessary if he moved people OUT before moving more people in. Just when I think he’s got a handle on things, he makes another move where he puts himself behind the 8 ball. I can’t get a read on what PA is thinking.

  6. Math is for nerds.

Aquafina has been able to gaslight himself that we’re a contending team, and that the fans don’t want a rebuild. I’m sure he can convince The League into believing we’re cap compliant.
