I don’t need to read it. I already know the answer. Move defense contracts off this team.
I get that ownership wants to be competing so that butts are in seats. However, “success” in making the playoffs this season would just prolong the forthcoming mediocrity.
If we’re looking at ~3 years from now to truly re-enter contender status, the forward prospect group is in pretty good shape. But while the D group has some likely future impact NHLers in Buchinger , Lööf, and Lindstein, it’s missing guys with top pairing potential.
Next year’s draft projects to have more defensemen in the top 10 than in recent memory. The Blues absolutely need to be picking there again, ideally in the top 5.
