There is no bouncing bqck for bryan Rust! He never "fell off" or declined or anything he still generates same amount of chances defends, grinds to the net, throws hia body, shoots the puck, passes, top penalty kill guy he does it all
Dk, I couldn't agree more. Rak litterally made every line and player better when he played with them. I have high hopes for him this season.
Carter deserves to be on the list as well when you just look at the trades. He was absolutely fine untill, you know, he got a 2 year 3.125 aav extension at age 37 in the middle of a season where he played 1st and 2nd line minutes in absence of Sid and Geno.

If you pick up Tatar – I know it does not help the salary cap issue – which is another issue altogether but you could make Jeffcar a healthy scratch….and as far as the salary cap is it possible to rework salaries and defer a bit if necessary – just a thought but I appreciate that it is much simpler to send Pitlick down to the Baby Pens if we are able to pick up Tatar.
I agree with everything about Rakell. I said the day they got him that there's Sid's next winger, and instead they did everything they could to not move Rust from that line. It was shades of Iginla revisited. Another knock on Sullivan aside from his refusal to allow young players to participate enough, is his coddling of the veterans even in the face of evidence to the contrary. And on the PP, it sure would be nice to have his ability to create and a right shot closer to the net even if Guenzel needs to sit becuase of it. That said, you are missing another trade that was excellent. Carter. After he got here he was the highest scoring Penguin for the remainder of the season and even in their short playoff run. No one was saying anything negative about it and he was looked at like a steal considering LA was eating half his salary for 3rd and 4th round picks and he was signed through the 20-21 season, a season that saw him put up 19 goals and 45 points, Not too shabby in a mostly 3rd line role.
The issue with Carter wasn't the trade, it was the protecting and resigning of him afterwards with him going on 37, along with the bringing back of Heinen, and Kapanen, while allowing other important players to leave… players they still haven't found a way to replace. Basically the entire handling of the expansion draft is where Hextall completely screwed the pooch and the adding of Granlund was just throwing gasoline on the fire as he left the building. Sorry, but the Carter trade in and of itself was a really good one.

RR is a stud and anyone watching him play,clearly can see how good he is. Sully isnt the greatest judge of talent, but of course the non Dk media will continue to sing his praises.
