Well, for the moves that have been made the next two years are make our break for the gm and club.
When asked 'what about all those expiring contracts and asking players', your new gm said, and i quote 'well, Sully isn't going to expire'. 😂 clown.
6-15 in the playoffs since 2019, a recent playoff miss, and still signed for 4 more seasons.
Cassidy was available last summer 😔
This is what loyalty leads to in the NHL.
They won 6 playoff games in the last 5 years
Haha, I get what your saying.
In a perfect world we'd all have no movement clauses But then we'd probably all check out Apparently Hextall didn't have such a clause Maybe no movement clauses should from now on be referred to as the Santa Clause
I've read a lot of criticism that Sully uses the same "speed" team philosophy today that he used in 2016, in spite of the team being significantly older. Is there truth to this?
He's got to get results this year. Been too long. IMO
Wasn't a sign and trade. He was already signed through the next season when they acquired him. The only signing the Penguins did as far any extension was the one they gave him after that original contract expired, That's where they failed. There was no handshake agreement with the original trade that they needed to, or were forced to give him that extra two years. What Carter brought to the team in the original partial season, and even the season after that where he put up 19 goals and 45 points was well worth trading for him. The two-year extension at basically 37-years old that they gave him after that is where all the fault lies. Two separate things entirely.
😶
Sullivan doesn't impress me. I think he got lucky his first two years. If the last few seasons indicate anything is that he keeps forcing things that don't work. He has only one stale predictable plan and doesn't know how to adjust when needed. Dan Bylsma was fired with a better playoff record. The only reason this guy still has a job is because he's from Boston and the new Bostonian ownership has a hard-on for him.
Dk, carter was great when he first came over, like you said, man among boys, "big jeff" , etc. Last season stunk for the entire bottom six. It seems obvious that carter can't carry a line at this point in his carerr. But given a chance to play with the likes of ellars, doc (who he clicked with nice at points at the end of the season) and others, do you see his game returning at all.
Im convinced he still has the shot and knowledge and large frame to be an asset in the bottom six if used correctly by sully. What are ypur thoughts considering we are stuck with him. 13th forward or asset if used correctly?
Yeah? And what’s the consequences of Sullivan not doing great this year, or the team not doing great? FSG will probably just re-sign him to another three -year extension. He’s the Mike Tomlin of hockey. Pittsburgh loves its mediocre coaches who won early and have rested on their laurels since
Sully needs to win a playoff series bc he has been living off the cup years. Mgt has given him everything but a good goalie. Time to put up or shut up for him.
I dont think the pressure is on Sully as much as it is on Jarry. Goalies are kinda on an island to begin with, and I view Jarry as a goalie who is yet to be playoffs proven..I think the question is 'will the Pens be physical and strong enough to succeed in the playoffs and give Jarry the chance to shine in the playoffs? I think the Defense will at least be able to stop the other team from scoring as much and thats' really helpful. ::)
