  1. *Soupy was the only #51 in Sabres history, I remembered he wore it after but didnt know he was the only one..sad day for all 😐*

  2. RJ is worth more than 10 Stanley cups, I don’t believe 10 Stanley’s would strike as many people’s hearts as Ricks voice did, 3 generations of Sabres fans all grew up to him, I would take RJ any day.

  3. I started following the sabres not too many years ago. I am so privileged to have heard RJs voice in real time. Never thought I could be this devastated over an announcers passing but this one hits right in the feels. RIP you will be missed ❤️

  4. Wow, this is soul crushing. RJ was Buffalo Hockey for over 50 years. Straight to heaven, RJ.

  5. I remember when we lost Ted Darling and got Rick Jeanneret. I though, “Who is this guy and how is he going to ever replace Ted?”

Then all of these years later, we’re left wondering what the Hockey world will ever do without Rick!

R.I.P. Rick! You’re going Upstairs where God hides the Good Ones!!

  6. RJ #51 🎙 Sabres/Hockey legend. Absolutely a statue in his honor. He is the Sabres organization heart & soul. This man never worked a day in his life because his LOVE for the Sabres organization/players/fan base/city . 🙏 RIP RJ . Thanks for all you bought every single night.

  7. Let's win a CUP in his honor !!!. Opening night at home. I sure hope everyone is wearing #51 in his honor. Players & coaches & bench

  8. I hope you have been watching the videos on the Sabres’ YouTube channel. Heartbreaking yet comforting at the same time.

  9. Definitely a sad day not just for Sabres hockey but hockey in general. There will never be another RJ. I’ll always remember the sound of his voice making moments in the game last forever. Thank You RJ! RIP

  10. Rick Jeanneret was as much The Buffalo Sabres as the logo itself. Anyone born after the inception of the team in 1970 he was always there in your life, up until his recent retirement. Any other voice calling the game didn't sound right, and it still doesn't sound right. Countless kids in the Western New York and surrounding areas came to love the game of hockey just because they were so drawn in by RJ's call. Every time you played street hockey or NHL video games you'd be doing your best impression of Rick with your friends while having a giant smile on your face. Rick would tell you "You're wrong" or "Ted Darling was the real voice of Buffalo hockey."

But Rick Jeanneret was the best to ever step into a booth, and he'll forever be the voice of Buffalo Sabres hockey. The games haven't been the same since he stepped back, and no one will ever come close to making games as entertaining on the radio as he did. We were spoiled to have RJ calling games for so long, and we were blessed that he was the voice of his Buffalo Sabres.

Just wish RJ got to see it once though…..When it finally does happen I know he'll be a happy man up there.

  11. He will turn God into a Sabres fan ,Rick was the John Madden of ice hockey commentators I truly teared up when I heard my friend died ,because if youre a Sabres fan he was you're friend R.I.P. Mr.Jeanneret

  12. Ive been lucky enough to be able to listen to this delightful human being for the last 30 years. This one hurts real bad. Another legend gone but not forgotten. RIP RJ

  13. I'm from buffalo and he's been the voice of my childhood and he was the voice of the sabres

  14. This surprised me more than any player. He is the absolute GOAT. He even continued to work with the franchise even after retirement. I was really glad to see Marty and Duffer talk to Lindy about RJ. Sad day in this hoisehold.

  15. “As Ray applies the coup de grace” That’s always gonna be my fav. It’s a little more obscure maybe to some, but when it comes to beloved Sabres figures it’s just makes sense. Always and forever the voice of the Buffalo Sabres, RJ.❤️

  16. RJ was beyond the best. Will always be a legend. Although we've not yet won the cup, Sabres fans have been more than blessed by having such an amazing play caller all these years. This is such a sad loss, will miss him dearly.

  17. As a 19 year old I will miss Rj just bc he brought so much happiness to me over the course of my life. We have been bad for so long and I hate to see RJ pass right before we become good again I wish he could announce are first Stanley cup I will miss RJ.

  18. Very well said Roam, all of your thoughts and topics about this very sad day really did capture how all of Buffalo is feeling right now. I am 33 and some of my earliest memories are Jeanneret calling games. Watching the games with my grandmother when I must have been only 5 years old. We were truly blessed as a city to have such an amazing person like Jeanneret bring so much color and joy to the game of hockey.

  19. RJ was suffering … let him go … if Jesus was His Lord he will say "Don't cry for me … join me when it is your timej!"

  20. Off the top of my head … Brian "Soupy" Campbell is the only Sabre who wore number 51.

  21. I think I heard our Savior saying "look Father over here May Day is arriving for his eternal rest" RIP RJ

  22. This has been painful for a lot of people, we all feel like we lost a family member. I can't watch hockey without hearing RJ's voice Wayne.

The night of his last call, watching him remove the headset brought a lot of tears, I assure you. BTW, that's my gf April and I holding up our homemade sign for him at the end. God Bless all the smiles this man made for us. There will never be another personality like him. 💔

  23. Everyone in Buffalo needs to plan together to get this RJ statute biult

  24. I was destined to be a Sabres fan at birth. My father named me after Danny Gare while I was still in the womb.
Rick was the voice of my childhood, teenhood and adulthood.
When he had his meet and greet session 5 years ago, i immediately purchased tickets. I met him, shook his hand, talked to him for little while and took a picture with him.
I'll never forget that moment. He even autographed my "Best of RJ" CD I bought over 20 years ago. We lost a true gem of a human being.
    Rest in peace RJ.

  25. Of all your videos, Roamie, this is your best. Thank you for the recognition of RJ and what he meant to the Sabres and the surrounding communities of western New York and southern Ontario, as well as to the hockey world in general. RJ was one of a kind and we will never see the likes of him again. An interesting story that ties RJ in with two other broadcasting legends (and which demonstrates the circle of greats that he was in for all these past years) involves RJ beginning his Sabres play-by-play career when he became their radio announcer for the 1971-72 season. Dave Hodge, the legendary host for Hockey Night in Canada who had been the Sabres radio announcer for their initial season of 1970-71, left that role when he was unexpectedly hired to be the lead host for Hockey Night in Canada over the front-runner for that position who was just some guy named…Alex Trbek. Now, as to you, Roamie, you are also a special man and very high up the list of the truest and most dedicated of Sabres fans. And we all greatly appreciate you for that and for keeping us informed and entertained with your videos on all things Sabres. Thanks for all you do for us. Be good…and keep on keepin' on.

  26. @ Roam Hockey, however it is you do it. 🙏🏽🧎🏽💒🏰🕌⛪️ that RJ is received into the kingdom of heaven. Keep safe, and have people around that have your trust if you feel emotional. Yes, your community plus Rosie is always here for you.
    RIP RJ

  27. Hockey world just lost a great voice. Even from Calgary who cheers for the Flames I admire how he called the game. Had the enthusiasm and even have to laugh at how he called the games. RIP to RJ is all I can say.

  28. This has been pretty rough. I heard last night and then this morning ended up watching a memorial video and actually teared up a little bit. It’s tough that he’s gone. I had hoped that he would return for one game while they were really good…….he deserved that

  29. im.a 🇬🇧⚡ fan rj was a class above the rest hopefully the sabres can win a cup sooner than later

  30. The word Icon just doesn't come close to describe such an incredible human as RJ. RIP to The King of the broadcast booth. The whole league mourns your loss Buffalo.
