When I think more deeply about it I think it’s more specifically related to timing.
We spent most of the 80’s as the 2nd best team in the league while being in the same division as the best. This, along with Roy’s historic rookie season, is the reason why we only won one Cup in that era.
Fast forward to 2004 and we lose the Cup when video review is still in its infancy. Then we need to sit on it for over a year as the lockout costs the league a season.
There are some other examples in between but now here we are sitting on numerous key upcoming FA’s, in one of the more pivotal offseasons in recent memory, and the flat cap is making it nearly impossible to move any of them for fair market value.
I sure hope the market opens up cause this has to be one of the most lackluster drafts and offseason’s in regards to movement ever.

I really hope he rises up for the occasion and forces Conroy’s hand. I’m trying to temper my expectations about Wolf but god I hope he keeps improving and takes the backup spot, we deserve an elite home grown goalie

I think a realistic timeline for Wolf is fighting and earning the backup spot this year. And then fighting for and earning the starters spot next year. Of course this is dependent on Markstrom too, if he’s still ass then it might fast track Wolf’s career

As long as he gets around 15 starts in the NHL this year I will be happy as long as he is still regularly playing in the AHL. Run a 22 man roster and move Wolf onto the NHL club whenever they’re in town to get him practices and games with the big club.

Sometimes I think this organization is cursed.
