Great article. Imagine if we could land Marner in 25.

The on ice results have been pretty awful. At the same time, there’s no question that Yzerman has managed to bring in some really good young talent/prospects. The team, literally, had no elite talent coming in when Holland left for Edmonton.

Brings up some good points, especially about how an extra year or extra million on some of these contracts may hurt with FA, but you also can’t count on every FA wanting to come to Detroit. There’s still so much up in the air that it seems fruitless to try and look to the summer of 2025 to see what free agents may be available/how strong a contender the Wings are. I would love to sign Raymond to a 6-year/$6.5 million dollar deal though.
Also, getting a little tired of people acting like Copp is now a fourth-line center just because of his down year/the signing of Compher. It’s not just Prashanth, just feels like I’ve seen a few Red Wings rosters where Copp is centering the bottom line. Copp can easily play wing in the middle six and be a solid player, and I think he makes a lot of sense to be a wing on Kasper’s line or Danielson’s whenever he makes the roster.

Prashanth has some good insights but at the end of the day he will never be satisfied unless Steve does EXACTLY what prashanth thinks is best.
