6:35 – Habs and Blues Trade?

  2. As a Blues fan that tends to say "In Army We Trust"… this trade would infuriate me and I'd want a new GM.
We need D help, and bad D contracts to move out. I know we'd like to move Scandella, and I'm all about that.

But we have no need for new goaltending. We want our draft picks, or at least to trade them for something we need, like getting someone to take Krugs contract.
Moving a 1st, plus Kap, for a goalie we don't need and an oft-injured 20G scorer, and ending up over a million closer to the cap? Bro I'll be pissed. Lol

I'm not shooting the messenger here but I certainly hope it's just Canadian media and their wishful thinking.

  3. Montreal has the most delusional fans if they think all their guys are worth #1 picks. The team is a tire fire with a bunch of bad contracts. At least Hughes seems cognizant of the situation

  4. Anderson isn’t worth nothing, he was on a 40 point pace in the last 2 years on two of the most injured teams in the cap era. But he is overpaid by about 1.5 to 2 mil, if they want to get something decent for him. They will have to wait for the cap to jump and the term to be shorter.

That trade doesn’t make sense for the blues because they are meant to be pretty bad this year and next year, so they are taking a huge risk for no reason. While also not addressing the defence.

  5. Best to Jon Bernier in retirement—-I gotta say, I like the idea of this trade –Anderson would be a good fit in STL, IMHO—-,like Kevin Hayes, he gives them some much needed size and Desmith would be good goalie depth, perhaps as the #2 ,so, Hofer can get regular playing time in the AHL. And the Habs could use another 1st round pick to aid in their rebuild/retool—-yeah, I like it for both sides.

  6. I don’t see this as a trade that makes sense. But for all you people who say Anderson isn’t worth a first round pick you are wrong. He is sought after. New Jersey still wants him.

  7. Did you seriously spend nine minutes yammering on about an overtly delusional fantasy "mock trade" from some random nobody you don't even bother to name that makes exactly zero sense – nay! – actively harmful nonsense for the Blues? Why on Earth would the Blues spend a 1st ++ on a bad contract winger they have less than zero use for and a UFA back-up they have less than no use for? Sweet Moses, man. How anyone could ever imagine for a nanosecond that Doug Armstrong would remotely consider such a glaringly obvious voluntarily beating is light years beyond me.

  8. Anderson is too much cap, he is not worth 4.5m let alone 5.5m. The blues don't need depth at goalie, Binner had a bad year because the defense was terrible not because he was terrible. It might not have been his best year, but I don't think it was bad as people make it out to be. Hofer is going to be fine as a backup. Also, giving up a first for that bad contract and a depth goalie we don't need, are you serious?

  9. It's sort of the GM's fault when he hands out NTC and M-NTC and NMC like they are candy to the Defensemen LOL

    Talk about messing up 😅

  10. i don't see it. i think the blues run with hofer as backup. if they want a 3G, primeau makes more sense. their 3G right now is malcolm subban. i don't mind kapanen – though if we take him i want to move armia out – but we've been there, done that on scandella. for the 1st and 3rd i'd do the deal, but i think it would be a terrible idea for the blues. if they're willing to give up that much, i'll ask them for dvorsky instead of the picks.

i still think the deal that makes the most sense for desmith is with chicago. he'd get lots of playing time, and the prospect goalies would be given time to develop. is soderblom or stauber going to challenge him? gajan and commesso are years away. i think not. now, we can do a small deal for a 4th, or we can make things interesting by tossing in a guy like kidney, mesar, or farrell, and a dman like trudeau in exchange for colton dach. or a rohrer/kapanen and the dman for gavin hayes.

  11. I would have traded Anderson a long time ago and brought back Domi, which produces better, tougher, play-off performer and more consistent

  12. In a year where Taylor Hall is worth nothing, why is Anderson suddenly worth a first round pick, especially one which should be quite high? Anderson does nothing for the blues. A delusional dream from a Hans fan. Anderson would need to include draft capital to dump. Back up goalies have zero value. The Habs get major long term cap relief. Hofer is a very good prospect, he’s not being blocked by a marginal back up. This trade makes zero sense for the blues, shame on you.

  13. Montreal made LD space by moving Edmundson, Matheson is the top LD with 3 more young LD that need to play. Makes no sense for either side unless St Louis just gets DeSmith and Montreal just takes a draft pick, not 1st rnd of course.

  14. Losing Anderson just to flip DeSmith doesn’t seem very helpful. If Anderson is so bad with his salary why are all these teams interested in him ? His contribution to the habs goes beyond points on the scoresheet.

  15. That makes no sense for the blues. Hofer is the blues goalie of the future. Besides the Blues need more cap space.

  16. I'd like that trade for Montreal but Habs don't need defensemen. So getting Scandela makes no sense unless you plan to flip him to another team like they just did with Petry.

  17. There is no way the Blues would deal a first and 3rd for these two. The blues pick is potentially a lottery pick in there's no way they give away a potential Superstar for two above-average players

  18. I'd bet stats wise, Kapanen and Anderson have very similar years (20goals, around 40 points). However, Pittsburgh is eating around half his salary i believe? So that looks like a loss on the blues end. The blues are fine with Hofer as the back up, and they have Malcom Subban as their#3 so the DeSmith end of it makes little sense. So what it pretty much comes down to is the blues paying a 1st rounder to take Scandella's contract off the books. Im trying to make this make sense in my head, but this would be an absolutely awful deal for the Blues. And a 3rd? On what planet does this make sense?

  19. I don't personally think for a rebuilding team like the Blues, dropping a first round pick will make much sense. The pick will likely be high this year, so that also adds to the negatives for St Louis.

  20. Josh Anderson is a prized commodity. A decent talent with size. Why are you people always trying to trade him. Enuff garbage.

  21. I will lose all faith in the blues if that’s a trade possibility maybe a second round for desmith no first round picks no everyday players

  22. the disrespect of josh anderson is crazy keep dreaming he is going no where!!

  23. The overpaid Josh Anderson for a first round blues pick? That’s hilarious. Who will come up in the next ping pong ball drawing for trades?
