I can understand why he’d want one year and the team’s cool with it too. He’ll be an RFA next summer and I believe he’ll be arbitration eligible. If he has a truly good year he can argue for a much bigger deal going forward. The team doesn’t have to risk overpaying him for multiple seasons if he doesn’t progress further.

I’m actually surprised that its only a year, thats a big bet on himself. I imagine he could have gotten a 2 year

I really think he can bring a lot this season rather it’s third or fourth line center his speed and two way game will go a long way
