  1. Me opening a THG video on the Devils to see if he got it all right 🕵️‍♂️

  2. I'm a big fan of V. He just needs confidence and the boys to watch his back. I know he didn't do well in the playoffs but a lot of guys struggled so it's not fair to forget how good his was in the regular season. He had 33 wins the most for NJ in a single season since Martin Brodeur. I'm really pulling for V to have a big year

  3. As a long time NJD fan, I could see how ppl might think we don’t like Pittsburg…Personally, I don’t hate them. I only hate Philly and NYR and mostly bc these are teams that take fans away from the only sports team that NJ has.

  4. Is it just me or do I feel they lost more than they gained this off-season?

  5. I have never been this excited for hockey to start. How close can Jack get to McDavid is my question. And curious to see how Luke contends for the Calder.

  6. I think there will be some growing pains on the blueline at points but they will come out of it all the better. Outside of that teams will be preparing for them now, so i do expect a few less points overall but it is still very exciting right now.

  7. Just don’t forget that they tanked for 10 years in order to get to this, never forget

  8. Any chances we can get Marc Andre fleury as a goalie for a year? Flower power to NJ?

  9. 6% of the vote are Ranger fans. All jokes aside, I think Lindy made the right calls this season. I will admit, I was saying Ruff needed to be fired in the beginning of last season. However, during the playoffs, he came through. We were down 2 games against the Rangers. What did he do? He saw Vitek was not working out. He saw Miles Wood was going completely against his instructions. So he took a shot with Schmid and benched wood. Then in game 6, after we got our asses kicked, he said "Embrace the moment. This is the game you dream about. Game 7 playing in your own barn, in front of your own fans. Where else would you rather be?" Sounds like a good coach to me. I think he should finish what he started.

  10. At least for me, Ruff has earned a good bit of breathing room for this season, plus when you listen to Tom Fitzgerald interviews it's clear he and Ruff are completely on the same page in terms of the development of the players and how they want things to play out on the ice, so Lindy's in a really good spot among management too.

  11. I’m a Devils fan who has watched them suck since I started paying attention to them in 2017 (I was alive for the 2012 run but quite young so I didn’t really care) and I’m super hyped for this upcoming season. If they can match the quality of play in the regular season last year they have a really good chance at Lord Stanley imo, especially since they know a bit more about the playoffs now. As always, the largest question is goaltending.

  12. I'm a huge devil fan and I loved your break down!! It was well thought-out and complete. I've been watch hockey for 35 years and I think the devils have a great chance at being a top team this year. The offence could be electric on the ice! I guess we will have to wait and see!! LGD

  13. Hi Shannon, great video as always. Just to get it put there, Lindy is not my guy. I think if the Devils get off to a slow start (4-6 say) and The Predators are hot out of the gate, people may say last year was due more to Andrew Brunette than Ruff. A winning Predators squad would be Brunette's 3rd surprising team in three years (Fla, NJ, Nashville).
Ruff annoyed some fans with his ham-handed development of Holtz and his ostracizing of Sharengovich.
This team is too good to lose and Lindy Ruff may be the 7th winningest coach but he also has the 3rd most loses in league history. I hope I am wrong about him and he can finally win a cup with this team.

  14. I think they will finish in second place behind Carolina again, but I wouldn't be surprised if they finish first.

  15. I think realistically, nobody besides Jack Hughes kind of popped off points wise last year and I think alot of the players learned valuable experience this last regular season and playoffs. I expect an increase in some point totals and some point totals to stay the same. I do think there will be a learning curve for guys like Luke Hughes with some mistakes here and there but he will make up for them with great offensive games every other night. Excited to see what a 50/50 season in starts for Schmid and Vitek will look like cause Vanecek looked tired by the end of the season carrying the season last year due to Blackwoods inconsistencies in health and play I expect both goalies to be at least .905 which is more than enough to make the playoffs with this teams offensive power. I wouldn’t be surprised I’m a regression in regular season points and standing though, my prediction is:
    1. Canes (Best defensive team, won’t need many goals to win games)
    2. Devils (regress a little but not a lot)
    3. Pens (Motivated and upgraded team especially with the addition of Karlsson)
    4. Rangers (Aging players, lot of pressure on those kids to double their point totals and take over spots from guys like Kreider and Trochek, as well as Quick is not gonna give Shesty much rest but still a Wildcard team)
