My take away is we need to try and retain the Gus Bus when Wallstedt comes up here.

Boudreau should’ve given Stalock more games and made him into a tandem with Dubnyk

Here I saved you a click: Yes, you need 1-2 elite playing goalies….that season….to make it to the Stanley Cup. Since almost all NHL goalies are elite, you really need one to catch fire like Aiden Hill did. Or Martin Jones did for SJ a few years ago. Or how in both LA Cup runs Johnny Quick played incredible stealing games.

Even making it to the finals requires it. When Vegas lost in the SCFs their first season, MAF had the 2nd best ever save % entering the Finals. That’s insane. They ended up losing obviously.

Pekka Rinne vs the Penguins was another good example. Rinne was absolutely on fire but for whatever reason sucked against Pittsburgh. Nashville didn’t really have a chance (well they were very injured at that point of the playoffs too) but Rinne was not his elite self they series snd they lost 4 games to 2.
