At 3.5 M this season, he left a little meat on the bone for the team to have some breathing room in the cap. Now they need some young, low salary players to surprise them in the preseason. Thanks for the report!
Capfriendly currently has Markus Niemelainen as the Oilers' 7th defenseman instead of Broberg. But if one of either Ceci or Kulak gets moved, Niemelainen might see more ice time along with Broberg as opposed to being just a call-up whenever a main roster D-man misses time due to injury. Only time will tell when that opportunity arises. The dead cap owed to James Neal from his contract buyout will be up when Draisaitl is ready for his extension, which will give the Oilers a little more cap flexibility to sign him. Unless another player, like Ceci or Kulak, gets bought out between now and then, or has a portion of their cap hit retained by the Oilers following a trade.
I just watched the Corrado snip from TSN. “ very good chance Oil get burned on Bouchard next deal”
He’s lucky to be there. Holland doesn’t give af if he’s in Edm long term. I don’t think anyone does. He’s a defensive liability. One that out weighs his offensive upside. Now can that change? Absolutely. But with Bouch. He’s got a long way to go.
Honestly it’s good to have him signed, but let’s be realistic about his point production. It’s all on the PP and he inherited it when Barrie was traded. Good to read those comments from Connor, but like he said it’s three years down the road. Most of the core will still be signed so perhaps that keeps him in Edmonton.,,
I love Signing of Bouchard today 3.9 million for two years good deal and I really liked what Connor said about Edmonton and the fan base I love Mcdavid, Draisaitl and the Oilers
Get both Drai and Bouch looked up to 8 yr deals next offseason, signing Bouch next summer will help keep his cap hit down, because if he puts up back to back big point totals his next deal is going to be big

on one side it would have been nice if he took 3.5 or less but on the other side he could have asked for over 4mil even on 2 year deal
Thanks Patrick for the update, nice to see the job get done. 👍 yeah Ryan Nugent Hopkins congrats 👏
I’m happy to see that decision come finally!! And glad to hear connor loves it here!! God knows we all love him!! And draisitl!!
that's not a good deal for the oilers or the fan's
Nurse @ 9.25 looks so bad right now

Great news for the Oil. It is going to be an exciting next couple of years.
They to bring in a fighter
Excited for This Group
So what's next on the agenda
Good to see Bouch finally signed. Hopefully at the end of this season I don’t cringe seeing Nurses over paid salary and what it costs the team
But your too late Patrick
