[Mike Stephens] Brad Treliving fait l’éloge de la façon dont il a connu Sheldon Keefe au cours de l’été, mais ne s’engage pas sur une prolongation de contrat. Keefe a encore un an sur son contrat actuel.
Brad Treliving speaks very highly of how he's come to know Sheldon Keefe over the summer but is non-committal on a contract extension.

As he should be.
Keefe isn’t his guy and if we’re honest, hasn’t been very impressive in the playoffs.
This is a prove it moment for Keefe.
If Treliving wants to go into the season with Keefe, it’s totally unfair to not offer him some kind of extension for peace of mind. Having a lame duck coach in a market like Toronto isn’t right. If he can’t get results you can fire him anyway, but he needs some kind of security. If you can’t give it to him, let him move on and get that from somewhere else
How many years are we trying the same thing?
This is scary news. Treliving liking him makes it more likely he will re-sign Keefe
A GM gets 1 fire a coach move. Treliving may get 2 if he lets Keefe go as he didn’t hire him, but if he extends him, then he may only get to hire 1.
Keefe, as a player, was a psychopath and he needs that as a coach. The boys need fuel under them, and fear is a real, true motivator. He’s way too cynical, calm, reserved, etc, in his decisions. Yes, having the best of the best out to tie the game makes sense. However, the full 60 min needs a bulldog mentality.
It’ll be interesting to see Keefes approach this year without Dubas. Hard to say how much influence was there. At times it felt Keefe wanted to rip the players that under performed but stepped back.
If you’re going to fire him, and you should, do it before camp.
